.NEAR TERM /Now Through Thursday night/...The vigorous mid to upper
level impulse located on the eastern side of the main upper trof
located over much of the eastern CONUS will continue to eject to
the northeast today followed by and another weaker mid level
impulse over TX that is progged to shift east to the north
central Gulf states by this evening, then move off to the
northeast by early Fri morning. Near the surface high pressure
located over east TX and the lower MS River Valley this morning
will become reinforced from the north and drift slowly eastward
through tonight. With this pattern expect clearing skies this
morning and this afternoon followed by mostly clear skies
overnight and early Fri morning. With plenty of clouds this
morning with maybe a sprinkle or flurry early combined with a
moderate northerly flow near the surface through mid morning
todays temps will start off on the cold side followed by a cool
day with daytime temps running about 6 to 10 degrees below
seasonal norms. A light freeze will also be possible for most
inland areas tonight, generally along and north of the I-10
corridor.

Highs today will range from the upper 40s to lower 50s for all
locations along and north of the I-10 corridor and the lower to
middle 50s further south stretching to the immediate coast. Lows
tonight will range from the lower 30s generally along and north of
the I-10 corridor and the mid 30s to lower 40s further south to the
immediate coast. 32/EE

.SHORT TERM /Friday Through Saturday night/...Leading edge of a secondary
surge of cold, dry air will be dropping south across the forecast area
Friday morning, with surface high pressure then settling over the region
through the end of the period, weakening slightly by Saturday
night. Mostly clear skies through the period. Daytime highs on
Friday in the upper 40s and lower 50s as the high pressure builds
into the area, then in the low to mid 50s as the ridge axis shifts
just a little to the east of the area. Friday nights lows will be
the coldest of the short term period with the ridge centered over
the area, ranging from the mid/upper 20s over most of the
interior to the low to mid 30s closer to the coast (primarily
along and south of I-10. 12/DS

.LONG TERM /Sunday Through Wednesday/...The dry period will persist
through Monday as surface high pressure area continues across the
region, although somewhat weakened. Both the GFS and ECMWF models
continue to develop a weak surface low pressure area over the
southwestern Gulf of Mexico by Sunday that moves east to southern
Florida by Monday. This system should remain far enough south
that any associated precipitation will be well to our south out
over the central and southern Gulf. Return flow begins to
redevelop across the area by Monday night into Tuesday as the high
pressure shifts to the east and a developing cold front begins to
move into the southeast states from the northwest. A slight
return of low level moisture will briefly occur, but the front to
the west is expected to quickly move east across the forecast
area by early Tuesday. Some scattered showers or areas of light
rain will be possible Monday night and Tuesday with the passage of
the front, but at this time it appears that the relative lack of
moisture will discourage the development of thunderstorms. Drier
conditions return Tuesday night and Wednesday. Cool days and cold
nights expected through the long term period, although some
variation in mas/min temperatures with the progressive pattern.
Highs on Sunday expected to be in the upper 50s and lower 60s, in
the lower 60s on Monday, then cooling off once again with the
passage of the front, with highs on Tuesday in the 50s and then in
the 40s on Wednesday. Variation with min temperatures as well,
expected to range from mid 30s inland to mid 40s coastal on Sunday
night, mainly in the low to mid 40s Monday night and then the
coldest on tuesday night with lows dropping into the mid and upper
20s inland and the low to mid 30s at the coast. 12/DS

.MARINE...Northerly winds and high seas will slowly diminish
through tonight as strong high pressure to the northwest and west
slowly shifts east. A light to moderate northerly wind flow will
continue over the marine area through Sun as high pressure settles
over the region. A Small Craft Advisory will continue over lower
Mobile Bay and the MS Sound east of Pascagoula through 9 am this
morning and the offshore waters of AL and NWFL from 0 to 60 nm
through 3 pm this afternoon. 32/EE
