a Frost Advisory remains in effect from 1 AM to 9 AM CDT Monday. 

* TIMING...Areas of frost will begin to form late this evening
  north of Milwaukee and Madison, then become more widespread
  during the early morning hours. 

* TEMPERATURE...Lower 30s.

* IMPACTS...A killing frost will end the growing season.

Frost Advisory is now in effect from 06Z-14Z Mon.

.AVIATION(18Z TAFS)...MVFR Cigs will transition to bkn035-040 for
late afternoon and early evening. The stratocumulus will then
gradually dissipate through the night. VFR conditions for Mon.

.PREV DISCUSSION... (Issued 1107 AM CDT Sun Oct 13 2019)

UPDATE...A few vorticity maximums will rotate through WI today
into the evening. The better upper support will be over nrn WI
but still enough lift and low level instability for isold to sct
showers over srn WI. As the occluded system moves more into
Ontario, drier air aloft will continue to arrive with a clearing
trend possible tnt. Fcst soundings do attempt to show some
decrease in relative humidity in the boundary layer albeit minor,
while MOS Guidance suggests a decrease in stratus as well. May
have to issue a Frost Advisory given low temps forecasted in the
lower 30s with lessening winds.

A sfc ridge will then approach from the sw on Mon and move across
srn WI during the afternoon. Light wly winds will become sswly
late in the day with warm advection beginning. Partly cloudy skies
and high temps near 50F are forecast.

MARINE...Brisk wly winds will continue over Lake MI today and
tonight. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect from Sheboygan to
Winthrop Harbor until 7 PM CDT. A sfc ridge will then approach
from the south with a lessening in the wly flow for Mon. The ridge
will pass Mon nt with light to modest wly winds becoming sly
winds.

UPDATE...

Showers are continuing to dissipate this morning however there
will be additional chances for showers later today.

AVIATION(12Z TAFS)...

MVFR CIGS are currently draped across much of southern Wisconsin
and will gradually push further to the southeast this morning.
MVFR CIGS will continue into the mid afternoon hours before CIGS
retreat back to VFR conditions by the early evening. Winds will
continue to be a bit breezy for the day but with the low pressure
system slowly pushing further east we should expect winds to
decrease this evening with mostly light winds expected overnight.

SHORT TERM...

Today and Tonight...Forecast Confidence is High...

The strong upper level low will remain to the north throughout the
day providing enough forcing for some showers for much of the day.
However, these showers will likely be isolated to scattered. This
will be due to the continuing presence of low to mid level
moisture. Other than the PVA from the upper level low the forcing
will remain mostly weak likely not producing much more than some
scattered showers, primarily through the afternoon. By the
evening the shower potential will decrease as we are expected to
dry out in the mid levels.

Otherwise, expect a fairly cool day as temperatures will not climb
much with clouds overhead for much of the day. Winds will be
breezy through the day but will decrease into the evening as the
pressure gradient weakens. Into the evening we may clear out a bit
perhaps allowing temperatures overnight to fall below freezing
for most of southern Wisconsin. This may bring areas of frost
mainly to inland parts of southern Wisconsin.

LONG TERM...

Monday and Tuesday...Forecast Confidence High...

Monday looks to be a fairly nice day across the region, with
sunshine early in the day giving way to increasing mid level
clouds by afternoon and evening. Warm advection ahead of the next
system will kick in later in the day, helping to boost temps to
around 50. Winds will be much lighter as well, as high pressure
skirts the area to the south.

A robust shortwave will dive south into the Dakotas Monday night,
and move through the area Tuesday night. Surface low pressure will
form ahead of this wave, and move through the region on Tuesday.
An area of light to perhaps moderate rain will accompany this
feature, moving through during the morning on Tuesday. A cold
front will then pass through Tuesday afternoon and evening, with
gusty northwest winds developing behind the front. Temperatures on
Tuesday will warm into the mid to perhaps upper 50s ahead of the
front, before falling into the 40s late in the afternoon into the
evening hours.

Wednesday into Next Weekend...Forecast Confidence Moderate...

Cool and blustery conditions will prevail on Wednesday, with
highs in the upper 40s. High pressure will begin to build into the
area Wednesday night and Thursday, with southerly flow returning
to the region late Thursday. Temperatures Thursday and Friday are
expected to respond accordingly, with low 60s possible by Friday.

Another system is expected to approach the region heading into the
weekend, though there is some uncertainty with exact strength and
timing. Overall, expect mild temperatures to continue into
Saturday, along with increasing rain chances.

AVIATION(09Z TAFS)...

Moisture wrapping around a very large low pressure system over
northern Minnesota will result in MVFR CIGS gradually drifting
south across the area this morning. Much of the area will be MVFR
by mid morning and remaining through the afternoon. VFR CIGS
return this evening. Winds will remain a bit breezy through the
day but will weaken in the evening as the low pressure system
pushes east out of the region.

MARINE...

Winds will remain fairly breezy today however, winds over the lake
will slowly decrease with the Gale Warning ending at 12z leaving
gusts from 25-30 kts across the lake. The Small Craft Advisory
will continue with breezy winds reaching thresholds throughout
the day. Winds and thus waves will begin to decrease tonight as
the low pressure system pushes east.

There will be a chance for waterspouts across the north half of
the lake today and tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

The chance for waterspouts will continue into Monday, mainly over
northern third of the lake.

Northwest winds may approach gale force Tuesday night into
Wednesday.
