.AVIATION...For the 27/00Z TAFs...Rapidly deepening low pressure
approaching the southwestern Oregon coast will continue to result in
impacting weather through Wednesday. The greatest impacts to
aviation are expected to continue through this evening in terms of
wind and snowfall. But, additional snowfall is likely to continue in
widespread showers overnight through Wednesday morning.
Precipitation will taper off Wednesday afternoon into the early
evening.

An Airport Weather Warning is in effect for KLMT for 1 inch or
greater of snowfall through 10 AM PST Wednesday, and for wind gusts
greater than or equal to 35 knots through 10 PM PST. An Airport
Weather Warning is in effect for KMFR for wind gusts greater than or
equal to 35 knots through 10 PM PST this evening.

In addition to those hazards, wind shear will be of concern across
the forecast area through about 06Z/10 PM PST with local variations
yeilding an earlier end time. This wind shear will occur as winds at
the surface align with the valley, but winds aloft blow more
directly in toward the center of the rapidly developing surface low.

Visibilities inside areas of snow will be IFR to LIFR and,
otherwise, MVFR to VFR through the TAF period. Expect terrain to
remain mostly obscured through the TAF period. Snow levels currently
between 1,500 to 2,500 feet MSL are expected to fall to 500 to 1,500
feet overnight through Wednesday morning. Conditions will generally

.MARINE...Updated 1245 PM PST Tuesday, 25 November 2019...
A Storm Warning is in effect for the coastal waters today and
tonight night as a rapidly deepening, low pressure system continues
to move into the area from the northwest and rapidly intensifies.
Conditions will will continue to deteriorate this afternoon as the
rapidly deepening low moves into the waters. Winds will increase as
the low center deepens and nears the coastal waters from the west.
Peak south to southeast winds are expected this afternoon and into
the early evening. Winds will likely reach 45 to 60 kt with
occasional gusts to hurricane force. Very steep, dangerous and
chaotic seas will build, reaching 20 to 32 ft. Given the track of
the low, moving towards Cape Blanco and areas just to the south,
expect the highest seas to occur from Cape Blanco southward.
However, very dangerous seas and very strong winds will also affect
waters north of Cape Blanco.  As the low moves onshore this evening
along the south Curry coast, expect strong north winds to develop
over the waters with winds reaching storm force. North winds will
gradually lower tonight, but remain at gale force. Very high and
very steep seas will continue through tonight and into Wednesday.

Mariners should take refuge or safe harbor and remain in port for
the duration of this event.

On Wednesday, winds are expected to gradually decrease, lowering to
small craft levels during the morning. However seas will likely
remain high and steep to very steep Wednesday into early Thursday
morning. More noticeable improvement is expected later Thursday into

.PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 314 PM PST Tue Nov 26 2019/

SHORT TERM...A deepening low pressure is located about 60 miles
west of of Gold Beach, OR. As this low has approached the
Southern Oregon coast, very strong winds have developed along the
coast and bands of precipitation have moved into the area
bringing moderate to heavy snow to many areas and rain at the
lower elevations. This is unprecedented storm in strength and
track and most all areas of the CWA will see major impacts.

Early this afternoon, high winds have already started to develop
along the coast and increase over many inland areas. Areas along
the Curry coast have seen winds gusting into the 60 to 70 mph
range. So far, the highest recorded sustained wind has been 85 mph
with gusts to 106 mph, which was recorded at Cape Blanco early
this afternoon. Areas near Gold Beach have recorded gusts up to 69
mph. Down trees and power outages have occurred along portions of
the Curry Coast. Winds are expected to continue to increase along
the coast this afternoon, peaking as the low pressure moves along
the Curry Coast late this afternoon. Strongest winds are expected
from Cape Blanco southward with gusts of 70 to 80 mph. North of
Cape Blanco, strong southeast winds gusting to around 40 to 60 mph
are expected. Inland, winds have gusted to between 40 to 60 mph
in the Rogue and Shasta Valleys and to over 70 mph over higher
mountains. Winds will continue to increase this afternoon into
this evening, peaking during the evening hours, before lowering
tonight.

Of note, the low may come onshore slightly further north than the
original track. This may result in slightly stronger north winds
along the Curry coast behind the low. Overall still expect very strong
south winds across coastal Curry County peaking late this
afternoon then switching to strong north winds this evening as
the low moves onshore. North winds may gust to 50 to 60 mph along
the Curry Coast this evening.

Moderate to heavy snow has also begun to impact inland areas,
especially over the mountains and in the Mount Shasta area today.
Light to moderate snow also fell down to lower valley floors of
around 1000 feet in western valleys this morning. Western inland
valleys have seen temperatures rise above freezing for many areas
this afternoon. However, a few western valley locations continue
to hover near freezing and see light snow, such as portions of the
Illinois, and Evans Valleys. As wind increases across the area,
expect temperatures to rise slightly and precipitation will
change to rain. However, snow will continue to impact area passes,
mountains, areas east of the Cascades and across northern
California. Heaviest snow this afternoon and evening is expected
in the Mount Shasta area, including along the I-5 corridor as well
as in the mountains in western Siskiyou and the Kalmiopsis. Snow
levels will lower as the low moves inland tonight. Expect snow
levels to lower to 1000 feet tonight then down to around 500 feet
Wednesday morning. As the surface low gradually moves eastward
over the area, expect light to moderate snow in wrap around
showers to continue to affect all areas tonight into Wednesday.
This will bring snow impacts to western valleys as well across the
mountains, east side and northern California. Also of note, with
the west northwest flow behind the low, expect foothills along the
Siskiyous and Cascades in Jackson County to be favored for
moderate snow showers tonight into Wednesday morning. Showers will
decrease in coverage and intensity during the day Wednesday but
expect continued impacts due to the high volume travel period.

Weather conditions will continue to deteriorate rapidly today
into tonight. Be prepared and have a way to receive NOAA NWS
weather updates.

For those who are traveling, avoid traveling or consider
alternative travel plans during the worst portion of the storm
today through Wednesday morning.  Also be aware that impacts will
linger through Wednesday afternoon. During the height of the
storm, this afternoon into tonight, the combination of moderate to
heavy snow and very strong winds will bring white out conditions
at times to all mountain passes. Also be aware that Blizzard
conditions are possible over the higher passes, including all
passes in the Southern Oregon Cascades and at times over Siskiyou
Summit and in the Mount Shasta area.

LONG TERM...(Thursday through Sunday)...Behind this low an upper
trough will remain over the area Wednesday night and Thursday.
Expect some light isolated showers during this times and lower
than normal temperatures. Low temperatures are expected in the 20s
to upper teens across western inland valleys and in the low teens
to single digits for eastern valleys Thursday morning and Friday
morning. Even coastal areas Daytime highs are only expected in
the mid to upper 30s for inland western valleys and the 20s for
eastern valleys and Thursday and Friday. Another low pressure
system is forecast to approach the coast Saturday then gradually
move into the region late Saturday and Sunday. This may bring
another round of rain and snow the area.
