The dangerous combo of heat and humidity will come to an end early this evening for the Saint Louis metro area. Please refer to the Heat Advisory that is in effect for further information. There is a chance for thunderstorms early this evening for areas mainly south and east of the Saint Louis metro area, and then again late tonight in northeast Missouri. A few storms this afternoon and early evening could produce strong wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. There is a chance of thunderstorms across parts of the area each day. Numerous severe storms are possible on Tuesday morning and early afternoon. GENEVIEVE COUNTIES UNTIL 515 PM CDT...
At 427 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles east of Weingarten, moving east at 20 mph.
Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
this storm.
Locations impacted include...
Ste. Genevieve, St. Mary, Rocky Ridge, Weingarten, Coffman,
Kaskaskia, River Aux Vases and Minnith.
This includes Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 141 and 154.
This also includes Hawn State Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
