  breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and 
  rocks, and capsize small boats near shore.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in

.SYNOPSIS...05/811 AM.

Cooler temperatures are expected as a few weak low pressure
systems bring clouds and a chance of light rain to the region for
today into early Saturday. Temperatures will warm up Sunday and
Monday, but another weak storm system will increase clouds,
keeping temperatures near normal. Some northern areas could see
showers late Monday.

.SHORT TERM (TDY-SUN)...05/912 AM.

***UPDATE***

Updated forecast mainly for the morning hours, by decreasing rain
chances and clouds over Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Very
difficult forecast to peg down, as lower level remain moist but
the capping inversion has broken which will keep clouds from
becoming solid in coverage. By the afternoon, there should be more
clouds thanks to more daytime heating, but still unsure how solid
the coverage will be. The upper level trough will move through
the area today, and the potential for rain over SLO County and the
northern mountain slopes remains favorable, but the chances
everywhere else is not zero but fairly low. Any rainfall that does
occur will be very light and well under one tenth of an inch,
except for amounts up to 0.33 on the Santa Luica's of SLO County.
Gusty southwest to west winds are expected over the interior
areas and near the coast today, but will remain under advisory
levels.

***From Previous Discussion***

Lots of clouds will linger across the region tonight, and there
will be a slight chance of showers. Another weakening front will
bring a chance of showers to the region on Saturday, especially in
the morning, but most of the light measurable rain will again
remain north of Pt Conception. Skies could become partly cloudy in
the afternoon, and max temps may be up a couple of degrees. Snow
levels will be generally between 6500 and 7500 feet through Sat
morning, and little or no snow accumulation is expected in the
mountains.

An upper level ridge will build into the region Sat night/Sun,
and heights/thicknesses will rise sharply. Onshore gradients will
decrease. Expect partly cloudy across the region Sat night/Sun.
Max temps will jump significantly Sun, especially away from the
coast, with highs probably getting into the lower or possibly mid
80s in the valleys, and across the Antelope Valley. Increasing north
to south gradients should bring gusty to possibly advisory level
northwest winds to the Central Coast Sun afternoon and evening,
and to locations through and below passes and canyons across the
Santa Ynez Range and adjacent south coast of SBA County Sun
evening into Sun night. Gusty winds may also affect the Interstate
5 Corridor. Northerly winds could also cause an extra bump in
temps across portions of the Central Coast and the SBA County
south coast on Sunday.

.LONG TERM (MON-THU)...05/353 AM.

Heights and thicknesses will rise a bit more across the region on
Monday as the axis of the upper ridge moves into southern
California. In addition, N-S gradients will remain offshore, and
W-E gradients will be weakly offshore in the morning. Max temps
could climb well into the 80s in the valleys areas and across the
Antelope Valley. Locally gusty north winds will likely continue to
affect south coastal sections of SBA County and the I-5 Corridor
Monday.

An upper low will move quickly into northern CA Mon night, then
into Nevada on Tue with a trough extending into the region. The
southern end of its associated surface front could bring some
showers to mainly northern areas and the mountains Mon night into
Tue. There should be significant cooling across much of the region
Tue.

Sharp north to south gradients should bring gusty north winds to
the SBA County south coast and the I-5 corridor Tue into Tue
night. Winds will likely reach at least advisory levels, and
possibly High Wind Warning levels in some areas if the models are
correct.

The trough will move into the Rockies on Wed. Another upper low
will move into the Pac NW on Wed, then this upper low will drop
down the West Coast on Thu. Falling heights and thicknesses will
bring a cooling trend to the region Wed and Thu, with max temps
dropping to below normal levels. This system could bring some
showers to the region late Thu into Thu night.

.AVIATION...05/1756Z.

At 1730Z at KLAX...there was no marine inversion present.

Moderate confidence overall in the 18Z TAFs. MVFR cigs will be
possible at times at many of the coastal and adjacent vly airfields
thru Sat morning. The timing of any MVFR cigs and between flight
cats may be off +/- an hour or two. Otherwise, VFR conditions can be
expected.

For KPMD and KWJF, there in generally hi confidence in the 18Z TAFs
with VFR conditions expected through Sat morning. Gusty W winds will
prevail thru the period as well.

LAX...Moderate confidence overall in the 18Z TAF. VFR conditions
should prevail thru Sat afternoon, except for periods of MVFR cigs
tonight and Sat morning. The timing of any MVFR conditions and
between flight cats may be off +/- an hour or two.

KBUR...Moderate confidence overall in the 18Z TAF. VFR conditions
should prevail thru Sat morning, altho there is a 30% chance of MVFR
cigs at times mainly tonight and Sat morning. The timing of any MVFR
conditions and between flight cats may be off +/- an hour or two.

.MARINE...05/904 AM.

For the Outer Waters, moderate to high confidence in current
forecast. High confidence in winds and seas remaining below Small
Craft Advisory (SCA) levels through Saturday night. From Sunday
through at least Tuesday, moderate confidence in winds and seas
reaching SCA levels. Additionally, there is a 40% chance of Gale
force gusts on Tuesday.

For the Inner Waters north of Point Sal, moderate to high
confidence in current forecast. High confidence in winds and seas
remaining below SCA levels through Saturday. From Saturday night
through Tuesday, moderate confidence in winds and seas reaching
SCA levels. Additionally, there is a 30% chance of Gale force
gusts on Tuesday through early Wednesday morning.

For the Inner Waters south of Point Conception, moderate to high
confidence in current forecast. High confidence in winds and seas
remaining below SCA levels through Sunday (with a 20% chance of
SCA level winds across the western Santa Barbara Channel this
afternoon and evening and again Sunday afternoon and evening).
For Monday and Tuesday, moderate confidence in winds reaching SCA
