Dry conditions will continue this weekend and through next week.
Temperatures will bounce around a bit with warmer readings today,
cooler Sunday and Monday, then a gradual warming trend next week.

.SHORT TERM (TDY-MON)...19/837 AM.
Overall, a rather quiet morning across the district. Latest
satellite and surface observations indicate mostly clear skies
with only some scattered cirrus clouds drifting overhead. Surface
gradients are offshore, but upper level support is limited, so
only some locally gusty northeasterly winds are reported. With
offshore flow and upper level ridge building over the area today,
expect a nice warmup with afternoon high temperatures around 4-8
degrees above seasonal normals.
Quick look at initial 12Z model data indicates no major changes to
previous forecast thinking. On Sunday, a weak system will begin to
approach the area. So, will expect increasing clouds during the
day on Sunday as well as cooler temperatures as gradients shift
onshore. By Sunday night and Monday, the weak system will move
across northern sections of the district. Moisture is rather
limited with this system, so do not anticipate any significant
amount of precipitation. Light shower activity will likely be
confined to San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties as well as
north-facing mountain slopes of Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
Additionally, cyclonic flow generated by the system could produce
some light showers across the foothills of San Gabriel Valley. The
bigger story with this trough passage will be the development of
gusty northerly winds across the area. Widespread advisory-level
northerly winds are anticipated in the usual locations (I-5
Corridor and the Santa Ynez range). However, there will be enough
upper level and thermal support for the northerly winds to impact
the coastal valleys and advisory-level winds are not out of the
questions for the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys.
Overall, current forecast has good handle on the situation in the
immediate short-term. So, no updates are planned at this time.
.LONG TERM (TUE-FRI)...19/316 AM.
There will be decent cold air advection and upper support for the
Santa Ana winds on Tuesday morning and there will likely be advisory
level northeast winds across much of Ventura and LA Counties. The
cold air advection will counteract the adiabatic warming and there
will only be a little warming with max temps coming in a degree or
two below normal.
A large ridge sets up just off the coast and persists through next
Friday. Weak to moderate offshore flow will continue through the
period and will inhibit any low cloud formation. Max temps will
warm to above normal on Wednesday and then will warm further to 5
to 10 degrees above normal for Thu and Fri. Min temps will be
chilly in wind protected locations.

areas. SCA conds will cont thru Tue across the outer waters, and
thru Mon night across the northern inner waters. There is a 20-30%
chance of Gale Force wind gusts across the outer water Sun night
thru Mon evening.
Across the SBA Channel, good confidence that winds and seas
will be below Small Craft Advisory (SCA) levels thru the rest of
today. Do not expect SCA conds tonight and Sun morning. W-NW
winds will increase Sun, and should reach SCA conds Sun afternoon
and evening, then again Mon afternoon/evening.
Across the southern inner waters, SCA conds are not expected thru
Sun morning. There is a 40% chance of SCA level W-NW winds Mon
afternoon, then SCA conds are likely Sun evening, especially western
portions. SCA level W-NW winds are likely Mon afternoon and evening.
