Wabash River...
.Brief lowland flooding is expected along the Wabash River near
Vincennes starting later today. Flooding of one to two feet above
flood stage is expected.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

* At 7:45 AM Saturday the stage was 15.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to near 16.5 feet by Monday evening. It will fall below flood
stage by Wednesday evening.
* At 17.0 feet...Considerable agricultural flooding extends from just
north of the junction of Illinois 33 with Business 50 to the St.
Francesville, Illinois area. River Road from Lincoln Memorial
Bridge to Billett Rd is impassable. Extensive seep water forms
behind Illinois levees extending from Russellville to U.S. Highway
50. Flooding of agricultural land begins in Knox County Indiana
west of the railroad extending for the Oaktown area to the north
side of Vincennes. Extensive flooding of Small Creek.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways
in Indiana...
East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...
.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of period
of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have seen rainfall
amounts in excess of 10 inches. The crest on the Wabash River is
near Terre Haute and near Elliston on the White River. The crest on
the East Fork White River is between Bedford and Williams.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week. Two to three inches of rain fell across these areas
Saturday morning which is leading to crests slightly higher than
initially expected.
Scattered showers are possible today with most areas staying dry
through Sunday evening before additional rain moves into the area.
Rainfall of around an inch is expected between Saturday and Tuesday
with dry weather expected for the rest of the week which will allow
rivers to fall.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Persons with interests in flood prone areas that are not protected by
levees should take precautions immediately. Keep children from
flooded areas. Motorists should travel high ground routes and avoid
roads that frequently flood.
Many roads in southern Indiana will be flooded by several feet of
water. Do not even think about driving through flooded roads..You
will not make it.

* At 7:00 AM Saturday the stage was 15.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.

Thursday morning.
* At 14.9 feet...On April 24, 2011 extensive flooding in progress with
SR 450 between Bedford and Shoals flooded in at least 3 locations.
The deepest location was just east of Williams near the RR tressel.
The next deepest was at Coxton Rd where backwater from the river
extensively flooded Salt Creek. The last location was west of
Williams near Dillman Rd where backwater from the river closed the
road. To reach Williams one must use Ridge Road. Extensive
flooding of many local river roads in Lawrence Co.

at Shoals. Some evacuations or moving of mobile homes is
necessary. Local roads flood more extensively. Rural residents
move livestock and equipment to high ground. State Road 550 floods
on right bank and also between Trinity and Dover Hill.

* Forecast...It will rise to near 25.1 feet by Monday morning then
begin falling. It will fall below flood stage Sunday June 30.
* At 25.0 feet...A flood has exceeded this level each year since
January 2004, 6 out of 7 years since May 2002 and 10 times since
May 1990. Of these 10 recent floods, 7 of them have exceeded the
25.8 foot mark with the January 2005 flood the largest since
January 1937. Prior to May 1990, one must go back to March 1964
for a flood above 25 feet and back to May 1961 for a flood over 26
feet. The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area
occurred in March 1913.

East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...
.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of

River is near Terre Haute. On the White River the crest is near
between Elliston and Newberry. The crest on the East Fork White River
is near Williams.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week. Two to three inches of rain fell across these areas
Saturday morning which is leading to crests slightly higher than
initially expected.
Isolated showers, maybe a rumble of thunder, are possible early this
Saturday evening, then better chances of showers and thunderstorms
will be with us overnight through Monday. Rainfall of between
0.70 to 1.25 inches is expected between Saturday night and Monday
evening. Dry weather is expected for the rest of the week, which
will allow rivers to fall.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways
in Indiana...
East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...
.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of
periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have seen
rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches. As of late Saturday
evening the crest on the Wabash River was near Terre Haute. On the
White River the crest was between Elliston and Newberry. And, the
crest on the East Fork White River was near Williams.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week. Two to three inches of rain fell across these areas
Saturday morning, which is leading to crests slightly higher than
initially expected.
Other than an outside chance of an isolated shower, the next
rain will hold off until late tonight, Saturday night. Rain
chances will stay in Indiana through Monday. Rainfall totals
during this time are expected to amount to 0.70 inch to 1.25 inches.
This will prolong flooding and elevated water levels on area
waterways. Dry weather is expected after Monday for the rest of
the week, which will allow rivers to fall at a greater pace.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

for a flood above 25 feet and back to May 1961 for a flood over 26
feet. The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area
occurred in March 1913.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways
in Indiana...
East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...
.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of
periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have seen
rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches. As of late Saturday
evening the crest on the Wabash River was near Terre Haute. On the
White River the crest was between Elliston and Newberry. And, the
crest on the East Fork White River was near Williams.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week. Two to three inches of rain fell across these areas
Saturday morning, which is leading to crests slightly higher than
initially expected.
Other than an outside chance of an isolated shower, the next
rain will hold off until late tonight, Saturday night. Rain
chances will stay in Indiana through Monday. Rainfall totals
during this time are expected to amount to 0.70 inch to 1.25 inches.
This will prolong flooding and elevated water levels on area
waterways. Dry weather is expected after Monday for the rest of
the week, which will allow rivers to fall at a greater pace.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways
in Indiana...
East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...
.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of
periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have seen
rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches. As of Sunday morning the
crest on the Wabash River had crested or nearly crested everywhere
upstream of Riverton. On the White River the crest was near
Edwardsport. And, the crest on the East Fork White River was near
Shoals.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week. Around a half inch of rain fell across the lower White and
East Fork White basins Sunday morning.
Additional rain chances chances are expected through Monday.
Rainfall totals during this time are expected to amount to 0.70 inch
to 1.25 inches. This will prolong flooding and elevated water levels
on area waterways. Dry weather is expected after Monday for the
rest of the week, which will allow rivers to fall at a greater pace.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Persons with interests in flood prone areas that are not protected by
levees should take precautions immediately. Keep children from
flooded areas. Motorists should travel high ground routes and avoid
roads that frequently flood.
Many roads in southern Indiana will be flooded by several feet of
water. Do not even think about driving through flooded roads..You
will not make it.

.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of
periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have seen
rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week.
Additional rain chances chances are expected through today. This
will prolong flooding and elevated water levels on area waterways.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Widespread flooding continues across Indiana as a result of
several periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have
seen rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches.
Moderate flooding is ongoing or expected for the lower portions of
the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers through the middle of
the week.
Less than half an inch of rain is expected through next weekend.
This will allow rivers to recede.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Widespread flooding continues across southern Indiana as a result
of several periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have
seen rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches.
Moderate flooding is ongoing for the lower portions of the Wabash
and White rivers through the end of the week with minor flooding
continuing into next week.
Less than half an inch of rain is expected through this weekend
with most areas staying dry. This will allow rivers to continue to
recede.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

Wabash River...White River...
.Widespread flooding continues across southern Indiana as a result
of several periods of rain over the last two weeks. Some areas have
seen rainfall amounts in excess of 10 inches this month.
Moderate flooding is ongoing for the lower portions of the Wabash
and White rivers through the end of the week with minor flooding
continuing into next week.
Less than half an inch of rain is expected through this weekend
with most areas staying dry. This will allow rivers to continue to
recede.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

The Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* until Wednesday morning.
* At 8:45 PM Thursday the stage was 26.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...It will continue to fall to below flood stage by Tuesday
evening.
* At 26.7 feet...Wilson Road, a north-south road in Knox County near
the confluence of the White and Wabash Rivers, is flooded in the
Little Rock area in 2 or 3 places. One location the water is too
deep for vehicles. Extensive agricultural flooding progress in
areas that are not protected by levees. Three Illinois township
roads south of Illinois 1 between Keensburg and Grayville are
flooded for a total of 10 miles. Access to oil fields in the
Keensburg and Grayville are blocked by high water.

Issued at 354 AM EDT Sat Jun 22 2019 While no day will be a complete washout through Monday...the active and unsettled weather pattern will continue throughout the weekend and into Monday with periodic chances for strong to severe thunderstorms and unfortunately the threat for flooding. The expansion of high pressure into the area on Tuesday should bring a well needed break from the rain and storms through much of the rest of next week. Much warmer and more humid conditions will settle in by Sunday and continue all next week. && .NEAR TERM /Today/... Issued at 354 AM EDT Sat Jun 22 2019 Scattered convection beginning to redevelop over western portions of the forecast area early this morning in advance of larger convective complex extending from east central Illinois W/SW into central Missouri. 07Z temperatures were in the 60s across the region. Convection should continue to expand in coverage over the next few hours aided by a warm advection regime with the larger convective complex migrating into the lower Ohio Valley as it rides on the edge of the instability gradient. A combination of a westerly nocturnal low level jet and steep mid level lapse rates should maintain the convective complex into the morning as it tracks southeast following a similar track to the convective complex Friday afternoon and evening. This would once again bring the potential for heavy rainfall and strong storms to the southwest half of the forecast area with the greatest risk over the lower Wabash Valley where moisture and precip water values will be highest. Will carry highest pops through mid morning across the southwest half of central Indiana with lower pops elsewhere. Considering the lower FFG values from our waterlogged soils...will continue the Flash Flood Watch in its current state with one change...an extension in time out through 16Z to capture the convective complex through late morning before it drops south of the forecast area. The rest of the day now looks increasingly likely to be quiet as ridging aloft builds in from the west and a slightly drier airmass advects in from the northeast. With little forcing aloft and weakening flow in the low levels...hard to find much more than an low convective threat for the afternoon which again would likely be focused over the southwest portions of the forecast area where moisture and instability will be greater. Much of the northeast half of central Indiana may end up being fully dry all afternoon into the evening. Temps...morning clouds and convection will stunt temp rises a bit but increasing sun this afternoon should enable most locations to rise into the upper 70s and lower 80s. The lower Wabash Valley could see temperatures into the mid 80s. Leaned towards the warmer end of the guidance. && .SHORT TERM /Tonight through Monday Night/... Issued at 354 AM EDT Sat Jun 22 2019 Forecast challenges remain on rain and storm chances through the period with drier weather arriving by late Monday night as a front swings east of the region. Increasing confidence on a dry evening for most tonight with upper ridging in the area and a dry E/SE low level flow for much of the area. A warm front that will reside across the lower Ohio Valley all day today will lift north through the region late tonight and Sunday morning...possibly generating scattered convection early Sunday before shifting north of the area. With the warm front lifting north Sunday morning...the airmass will become noticeably more humid in the warm sector Sunday with what is likely to be the muggiest air of the season so far. The ridge axis will shift east of the area Sunday afternoon in response to a stronger wave traversing northeast out of the Missouri Valley into the Great Lakes. This feature will serve as a catalyst in generating an increasing threat for robust convective development over the mid Mississippi Valley by early afternoon before spreading northeast into the forecast area during the late afternoon and evening. Model soundings show a highly moist and unstable airmass by Sunday with the potential for MLCAPEs to peak above 4000 J/KG by late afternoon. Combined with strengthening W/SW low level jet nosing into the region...have a growing concern for the potential for severe storms by late day. The lack of more appreciable BL shear and helicity as well as steeper lapse rates may limit the severe potential slightly with a more disorganized and pulsy tone to the convection...but the amount of moisture and instability present cannot be ignored. Additional convection is likely to arrive late Sunday night into Monday as a surface wave and frontal boundary swing through the region in tandem with a stronger upper wave tracking through the upper Midwest. Model soundings suggest a continued favorable thermodynamic profile for stronger convection Monday afternoon ahead of the boundary and upper trough axis with steeper lapse rates through 850mb and as cooler air aloft advects in...a drop in wet bulb zero levels which may enable a greater hail threat from storms in addition to the possibility of gusty thunderstorm winds. Precip water values surging to near 2 inches at times through late Monday will keep a heavy rain/flooding concern with storms. Will continue to highlight the threat via social media platforms and the HWO with watches and/or warnings issued as needed. Chances for rain and storms will end from west to east Monday evening into the overnight as the upper wave and associated surface low depart off to the northeast. Should see skies clear Monday night with a edge off the more muggy conditions anticipated Sunday and Monday. Temps...trended generally warmer than guidance for highs Sunday and Monday which will rise into the 80s. Sunday remains the hottest day of the period as temperatures should top out from 85 to 90 across much of the forecast area with heat indices rising well into the 90s in spots. Lows will range from the mid 60s to low 70s through the short term. && .LONG TERM /Tuesday through Saturday/... Issued at 339 AM EDT Sat Jun 22 2019 Models are coming in a bit drier mid week than previous forecasts as ridging begins to influence the area. Cannot completely rule out a few isolated small storms near peak heating in the afternoons but this is a stretch to include even a 20 pop on those days. Will go with a dry forecast through Thursday night, and carry low pops from then on as GFS hints at a breakdown in the ridge and a weak low drifting into the region. Temperatures under the ridge will become far closer to seasonal normals and may bump above normal at times through the week. && .AVIATION /Discussion for the 22/12Z TAFs/... Issued at 658 AM EDT Sat Jun 22 2019 Predominantly VFR through the period. A period of MVFR ceilings is possible at HUF/BMG which have taken the brunt of a convective complex this morning. Expect conditions to be mainly quiet much of the day into the evening in the wake of the complex working its way south of the area. Cannot entirely rule out additional convective development but chances are not high enough for any sort of mention. Additional showers and storms will be possible this evening into the overnight, late in the period.
