...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood 
Warning for a portion of the following waterway in southwestern 
Indiana...

  Wabash River...

.Lowland flooding will develop in Vincennes tonight along the Wabash 
River in southwestern Indiana as the water level creeps higher from 
recent rainfall.  The river is expected to crest at about half 
a foot above flood stage by May 30, then go below flood stage 
in by June 3.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  flood stage by Sunday June 02.
* At 16.0 feet...Some flooding at Kimmell Park in Vincennes.  
  Agricultural lands flood in the St. Francisville, Illinois area.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  Mississinewa River...Wabash River...White River...


.Recent rounds of precipitation have led to river flooding on the 
Wabash and White Rivers in western Indiana.  Heavy rainfall 
overnight in the Ridgeville area has brought flooding to the 
Mississinewa River, with moderate flood stage expected to be reached 
by noon today, May 26.  This should bring water to State Road 1 south 
of the junction with State Road 28 in western Randolph County. 
Flooding along the Wabash and White Rivers is expected to persist, 
but flooding on the Mississinewa should come to an end by tonight.

Several more rounds of rain are expected over the next week, which 
could lead to prolonged or renewed flooding along waterways.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Gage.  Since the 1930s the White River has moved from the "old 
  wellhouse" to several hundred yards from the "old wellhouse".  The

  50.  Flooding of agricultural land begins in Knox County Indiana 
  west of the railroad extending for the Oaktown area to the north 
  side of Vincennes.  Extensive flooding of Small Creek.

  rise to near 19.3 feet by Friday morning.  It will fall below flood
  stage by Saturday evening.
* At 20.0 feet...River is bankfull in all locations.  All oil field 
  production ceases with the exception of pumping units on 
  substructures.  Access to these are by boat only.  Agricultural 
  losses increase dramatically.  Farmers move livestock to higher 
  ground.  City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year 
  round.

Wabash and White Rivers in western Indiana.  Heavy rainfall 
overnight in the Ridgeville area has brought flooding to the 
Mississinewa River, with moderate flooding in progress as of early 
Sunday afternoon.  This should bring water onto some roads.  
Flooding 
along the Wabash and White Rivers is expected to persist, but 
flooding on the Mississinewa should come to an end by tonight.

Several more rounds of rain are expected over the next week, which 
could lead to prolonged or renewed flooding along waterways.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  Mississinewa River...Wabash River...White River...Wildcat Creek...


.Recent rounds of precipitation have led to river flooding on the 
Wabash and White Rivers in western Indiana. Heavy rainfall overnight 
in the Ridgeville area has brought flooding to the Mississinewa 
River which crested Sunday evening. Flooding along the Wabash and 
White Rivers is expected to persist, but flooding on the 
Mississinewa should come to an end Monday morning.

Several more rounds of rain are expected over the next week, which 
could lead to prolonged or renewed flooding along waterways.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

Upper waves and a few fronts will keep rain chances across central
Indiana this week. Strong to severe storms and heavy rain are
possible at times into Monday. Temperatures will remain above normal
into mid-week, then readings will return to closer to normal.

.NEAR TERM /Rest of Today/...

Issued at 911 AM EDT Sun May 26 2019

At 9 AM this morning, only a few scattered rain showers were
present across central Indiana after a fairly vigorous round of
thunderstorm activity moved through during the overnight period. A
weak outflow boundary was settling in south central Indiana where
confidence is highest for the chances for thunderstorms this
afternoon.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected for most of central Indiana
through the rest of the morning with scattered rain showers
continuing. The clouds should keep thunderstorm activity to a
minimum through the early afternoon. Skies will begin clearing
during the late morning and the atmosphere will slowly destabilize
starting across the southern portions of the state. CAM models
have not been handling convection well lately, so based POPs and
thunderstorm risk heavily on current cloud cover and expectations
going forward. Highest confidence for storms and severe weather
will be south of Interstate 70 with lower chances further north.
Frequent lightning and gusty winds will be the primary threat.

Temperatures will be highly dependent on how quickly the skies
clear and the extent of convection this afternoon. Areas with a
few hours of good sunlight will quickly climb into the lower 80s
with mid to upper 70s expected across the northern portions of the
state where cloud cover is expected to be more extensive. Winds
will generally be out of the southwest at 10-15 mph with
occasional gusts above 20 mph.

.SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Tuesday night)

Models are close enough that the model blend initialization
was accepted for most items.

Scattered convection will continue into the evening with the front
still sinking across the area. Will have some chance PoPs. These
will diminish into the early overnight with loss of heating.
However, as the front begins to return north late, some low PoPs
will be needed south.

As the front moves northeast Monday, it could spark some scattered
convection. Will go with chance PoPs most areas. PoPs will continue
Monday night as the front continues to move northeast, but they will
diminish as the night progresses with the front exiting the area.

Tuesday should be dry most areas, but an upper wave to the north of
the area could bring some convection to far northern areas during
the afternoon. Went with some low PoPs far north at this time.

Another stronger wave could bring some more rain Tuesday night. Will
go with chance PoPs most areas.

.LONG TERM /Wednesday through Sunday/...

The unsettled weather pattern will continue through much of the
period as a stagnant frontal boundary remains across the Ohio
Valley. Storm chances will continue Wednesday and Thursday with the
front in the region and surface waves rippling along the boundary.
Presence of a stronger wave passing through on Thursday warrants
higher pops as convective coverage likely to be more widespread.

Extended guidance is hinting at a potential respite from the chances
for rain and storms by Friday and Friday night as the boundary
finally shifts south far enough to enable high pressure over the
Great Lakes to take hold. Any dry period would likely be brief
however as yet another frontal boundary swings into the forecast
area from the Great Lakes to bring a renewed threat for rain and
storms for much of next weekend.

Removed mention for VCSH and pushed back VCTS to 18Z. A weak
outflow boundary pushed through earlier this morning which is
leading to a short period of weak north winds that will shift back
to the SW later this morning. Relevant portions of previous
discussion follows...

VFR conditions expected through this evening with the exception of
any showers or storms. MVFR ceilings developing late tonight.

As a stronger upper wave moves into the region this afternoon
combined with increased heating...expect convection to become more
numerous into the early evening before diminishing again. With
the exception of KLAF which should be furthest away from the
greater instability...will carry VCTS through the afternoon and
early evening. Could see W/SW winds become gusty during the mid
and late afternoon as well.

Frontal boundary will shift south of the terminals this evening

This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Outlook: Thunderstorms are possible at times, and some storms may be
severe.

Hazards: Damaging winds, large hail, torrential rain and lightning.

Timing: Thunderstorms are possible at any time into this evening.
More storms are possible in the far south overnight. Best chances for
severe storms are this afternoon and evening.

Discussion: Upper level systems and a cold front will keep the threat
for thunderstorms across the area.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Outlook: Thunderstorms will be possible at times for all or parts of
central Indiana on Memorial Day through Thursday, and then again
Saturday. Some of the storms could be strong to severe at times,
especially on Memorial Day. Heavy rain may occur that could lead to
flooding.

Discussion: A frontal boundary will meander across the region
over the next several days. This will provide a focus for periodic
threats for strong to possibly severe thunderstorms, and heavy
rainfall over the same areas could lead to flooding.

At 513 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Fairmount to Lawrence. Movement was east
at 30 mph.

Half inch hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Muncie, Anderson, New Castle, Alexandria, Winchester, Yorktown,
Pendleton, Fortville, Chesterfield, Ingalls, Albany, Edgewood, Eaton,
Daleville, Parker City, Farmland, Gaston, Selma, Shirley and
Ridgeville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
