...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...


.Flooding is occurring across much of central Indiana as a result of 
a combination of several periods of rain over the last couple of 
weeks. 

More rain is expected for Saturday and Saturday night with amounts 
of up to one inch. The next rain event after that should arrive 
early next week. In most areas, flooding will last through the 
weekend, with flooding continuing well into the month of May along 
the lower portions of the White and Wabash Rivers.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

* At 13.5 feet...Lowland flood continues. Jackson County Road 700 E 
  begins to flood.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late Sunday night and continue
  to rise to near 21.6 feet by Tuesday morning.  It will fall below 
  flood stage by Wednesday evening.
* At 22.0 feet...A few local county roads begin to flood and are 
  impassable.  These include Buddha Road south of the gage and 
  Lawrenceport Road.  All local roads across the East Fork of the 
  White River are threatened by high water, and some are closed.  
  Flooding of agricultural lands in Lawrence County is in progress.

  Most of bottomlands flood.  Old Vincennes road and State Road 358

  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on 
  average about once a year.

  area locally known as Dodge City.  Several small oil fields are

* At 21.0 feet...The Wabash River extends to Interstate 70 Mile Marker
  Number 4 from its west bank in the Terre Haute and West Terre Haute
  area. All lakes in this area are affected by seep water and reach 
  capacity with some minor flooding.

  west of the railroad extending for the Oaktown area to the north

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...


.Flooding is occurring in mostly western Indiana, along the Wabash 
River, but also small sections of the White and East Fork White 
Rivers in southwest and south central Indiana.  The flooding is a 
result of a combination of several periods of rain over the last 
couple of weeks.

Rain chances are in the forecast for much of the next week.  The 
next rain system is due to come through tonight and Saturday 
across the southern half of Indiana with amounts up to half an inch, 
heaviest in far southern Indiana.  Flooding along the Wabash and 
White Rivers is currently forecast to continue until May 12th, but 
upcoming rainfall may very well extend the flooding.  The 6 to 
10-day and 8 to 14-day precipitation outlooks call for above normal 
precipitation.  This along with very moist soil will provide an 
elevated flood threat that bears monitoring as we head through the 
month.

  flood stage by Wednesday afternoon.
* At 20.5 feet...Lawrenceport Road just east of Lawrenceport and on 
  the south side of river begins to flood around this level.  By 22 
  feet this road is impassable.  During typical floods in this 
  area...this portion of the road can be flooded by 5 to more than 10
  feet of water.  During the January 2005 flood...this area would 
  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17 
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water 
  would have covered this location.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...


.Flooding is occurring in mostly western Indiana, along the Wabash 
River, but also small sections of the White and East Fork White 
Rivers in southwest and south central Indiana. The flooding is a 
result of a combination of several periods of rain over the last 
couple of weeks.

Rain chances are in the forecast for much of the next week. A 
quarter of an inch up to an inch of rain has fallen across central 
Indiana today, with highest amounts in southwest Indiana. The next 
rain system is due to arrive Monday afternoon. Flooding along the 
Wabash and White Rivers is currently forecast to continue until May 
12th, but upcoming rainfall may very well extend the flooding. The 6 
to 10-day and 8 to 14-day precipitation outlooks call for above 
normal precipitation. This along with very moist soil will provide 
an elevated flood threat that bears monitoring as we head through 
the month.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

A frontal zone is dropping through central Indiana this afternoon
and will be south of the area this evening. Another low developing
along this boundary may produce some showers late tonight into
Saturday evening, with the rest of the weekend being dry.
Additional frequent shower and thunderstorm chances can be
expected from Monday afternoon onward as another front moves into
the area.

.NEAR TERM /Tonight/...
Issued at 359 PM EDT Fri May 3 2019

The frontal boundary is exiting our area at this time. Low cloud
remains, and there may be a little bit of drizzle in spots but not
enough to bother mentioning. Weak low pressure developing along
the boundary may allow showers to sneak back into the area late
tonight in the southwest.

Consensus temperatures were reasonable and generally accepted.
Should see the upper 40s to mid 50s across the area tonight.

.SHORT TERM /Saturday through Monday/...
Issued at 359 PM EDT Fri May 3 2019

Models have shifted a bit southward and weaker with precipitation
chances Saturday. Will carry a strong gradient from likelies in
the far south to slight chances or nothing in the north during the
day on Saturday, tapering off Saturday evening. The remainder of
the short term will be dry.

Consensus temperatures continued to look reasonable and required
only minor adjustment. Expect temperatures to steadily warm late
in the short term, back into the mid to upper 70s by Monday.

.LONG TERM /Monday night through Friday/...

Models in general agreement that a front will be in area much of the
long term. In addition, models all suggest a southwestern system
will lift northeast across the Great Lakes late in the week.
Although their are differences in timing with a mid week system,
models are putting out QPF over much or all of the period. Thus,
will accept the blend PoPs that suggests there will be shower
chances over all of parts of the forecast area through the period.
The best chances look to be Tuesday afternoon through Thursday.

Instability progs suggests thunder will be possible at least Tuesday
night through Wednesday night.

Southerly low level flow favors the above normal blend for Tuesday.
After that, uncertainty in frontal position lends to lower
confidence. Will accept near normal blend temperatures through
Thursday. Better confidence the front will be south of the area next
Friday, so went below normal temperatures for then.

Discussion: Low pressure may allow showers to move back into the area
from the southwest late tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Outlook: There are chances for thunderstorms across portions of the
area Monday afternoon and again Tuesday into Wednesday. Severe storms
are not expected at this time.

Discussion: A few systems will bring frequent rain chances to the
area into next week. Thunderstorms are possible early to mid week.
