...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White 
  River...


.Flooding has developed along area rivers in central and southern 
Indiana. As of Saturday night, the crest on the Wabash River was 
between Terre Haute and Hutsonville, IL. The crest on the White 
River was at Edwardsport. The East Fork White River crest was 
upstream of Seymour. These crests will move downstream in the 
following days. 

Rainfall of as high as an inch and a half fell across portions of 
the East Fork White basin on Friday which will lead to a brief 
renewal of flooding near Seymour and will prolong flooding along 
lower portions of the East Fork White River and along the White 
River near Hazleton.

Flooding will affect some local and state roads, agricultural 
land, and some river parks and/or cabins.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

* At 15.0 feet...Lowland agricultural flooding in progress.  County 
  road 725 N (near Rockford) floods.  Indiana 258 east of Cortland 
  may flood.  On December 8 2014...about an inch of water flowed over
  Reddington Street near the East Fork White River Bridge as the 
  river crested.

  White River are threatened by high water, and some are closed.  
  Flooding of agricultural lands in Lawrence County is in progress.

  SR 257 south of Washington reopened when Shoals was at 10.5 feet 
  and falling steadily for the past 2 days.

Indiana. As of Sunday morning, the crest on the Wabash River was
near Hutsonville, IL. The crest on the White
River was between Edwardsport and Petersburg. The East Fork White
River crest was near Bedford. These crests will move downstream in
the following days.

Rainfall of around a quarter of an inch is expected across Indiana
during the day Monday which is not expected to cause new
flooding, but may slightly prolong the flooding along the southern
portions of the White and Wabash rivers.

Flooding will affect some local and state roads, agricultural
land, and some river parks and/or cabins.

Issued at 258 PM EST Sat Jan 5 2019

A large area of high pressure over the southern plains will build
across Indiana Tonight and Sunday...providing dry weather with
above normal temperatures. This will result in dry and mild
weather for the rest of the weekend.

A quick moving cold front will pass across Indiana on Monday. This
will bring rain chances back to Indiana for the start of the work
week.

Mild high pressure is expected to arrive in the wake of the cold
front...bringing more mild and dry weather for Tuesday through
Friday.

.NEAR TERM /Today/...

Issued at 258 PM EST Sat Jan 5 2019

Surface analysis early this afternoon shows a large area of high
pressure stretching from the southern plains through the midwest.
A weak area of low pressure was found over the Great Lakes along
with a weak cold front over Wisconsin. This low was moisture
starved as no precipitation was found with the system. Mild SW
flow was in place across Central Indiana with dew point temps in
the 30s and highs well above normals in the 50s. Aloft...water
vapor imagery showed ridging in place across the Rockies with
lee-side subsidence in place across the plains...spilling into the
midwest.

THE GFS and and both suggest as the weak cold front over WI is
pulled east today....strong high pressure over the plains states
will settle across Indiana. The weak front may settle across
Central Indiana near 12Z...which could be a focus for some fog
development as clear skies and light winds will again be expected.
Forecast soundings. Time heights and Forecast soundings show a dry
column across Central Indiana tonight with subsidence. Aloft the
pattern of lee side subsidence remains in place across Indiana as
the ridge axis aloft propagates to the plains states. Thus will
trend toward a mostly clear sky tonight with perhaps some patchy
fog as dew point depressions are expected to fall to near 1-2F
amid light to calm wind.

.SHORT TERM /Sunday through Tuesday/...

Issued at 258 PM EST Sat Jan 5 2019

Dry weather is expected to persist on Sunday and Sunday Night. A
Quick moving cold front will bring light showers to Central
Indiana...mainly on Monday afternoon. Dry weather will return to
Central Indiana late Tuesday night.

GFS and NAm continue to show strong ridging in place across the
plains on Sunday before the ridge axis aloft pushes east of
Indiana on Sunday Night. This results in plenty of dry air and
subsidence aloft on Sunday...before some high clouds will be
poised to arrive on the backside of the ridge on Sunday Night.
Time heights agree...with a very dry column in place on Sunday.
Forecast sounding agree also...showing some saturation aloft as
the day and evening progresses...indicative of the invasion of
high cloud on the backside of the ridge. THus will trend toward a
partly cloudy sky on Sunday along with increasing clouds on Sunday
night. Will stick close to the blends on temps.

On Monday the GFS and NAM shows a quick moving short wave arriving
on the back side of the departing ridge with ample upper support.
Models suggest good southerly lower level flow and the arrival of
moisture. Forecast soundings show saturation within the column on
Monday late morning and afternoon. Thus with good forcing and
favorable moisture in place will trend pops at or above the
forecast builder blends. Given the expected clouds and rain will
trend highs at or below the blends.

Models suggest in the wake of the front...broad NW flow will be in
place across Indiana as Pacific air arrives on NW winds. Forecast
soundings show strong drying within the column as the night
progresses leading into Tuesday. Thus will again trend toward a
dry forecast...sticking close to the blend on Temps.

.LONG TERM /Tuesday Night through Saturday/...

In the wake of the early week system, surface high pressure will
move in and this looks to shut down precipitation across the area
through the long term period. Some weak upper level waves moving
through the upper level flow will likely cause increasing
cloudiness at times, but fairly dry air should limit precipitation
chances to perhaps a sprinkle or flurry at times, and feel it is
best to generally avoid nonmeasurable precipitation phenomena in
the long term.

Temperatures will be turning sharply colder again after a warm
weekend and start to the work week.

Blended initialization was generally acceptable with minor
adjustments.

.AVIATION /Discussion for 060000z TAF issuance/...

Issued at 549 PM EST Sat Jan 5 2019

Expect VFR conditions for the first 6 hours of the TAF period,
then patchy fog should develop across the sites out of mostly
clear skies and light winds. Possibly could see some stratus as
well, but right now model soundings and MOS guidance favors fog
development. At this time consensus guidance favors MVFR at KLAF
and KIND with brief IFR at KBMG and KHUF. With simulated WRF
showing worse conditions moving in from the north, may add a tempo
IFR group to KIND and KLAF, but this will be low confidence.

Any fog that does form should burn off by around 13 to 15z Sunday,
and then VFR should remain for the rest of the day with
northeasterly winds around 5 to 10 kts.
