.SYNOPSIS...
Moisture will overspread the region from the south today as a
warm front advances into the Ohio Valley. Rain with embedded
thunderstorms will be occur tonight until a cold front sweeps
through the area. Strong winds will accompany the front and
continue into Sunday. The windy conditions will bring in much cooler
temperatures for Sunday. High pressure will settle in for Monday
and Tuesday offering dry conditions and below normal temperatures.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
For the near term, weather remains fairly benign with
precipitation focus remaining south of the forecast area. As a
result, have hedged back precipitation chances until later, and
will likely also come in more conservative with thunderstorm
chances with next update. As the warm front will be a little
slower to lift into the area, and with only very brief breaks in
the clouds in the sector, have also lowered the high temperature
for this afternoon. However, when the precipitation does come in
more into the evening, heavy rain still possible over saturated
soil.

Great Lakes tonight. Very marginal instability develops ahead
of strong cold front that sweeps through the area late tonight
(between 06Z and 09Z). Strong to severe storms which develop
over Western KY and Southern IN are generally expected to weaken
as they track northeast into the area due to less favorable
instby. Strong winds and good dynamics will be observed with
60 kts of wind below 5K AGL. Due to the strong shear/dynamics
and some uncertainty regarding instby - can not rule out a few
strong to severe storms over ILN/s southwest counties this
evening into the overnight hours. Will continue to mention this
threat in the HWO product.

Mixing associated with the front will likely offer strong to
damaging winds with its passage. Pressure gradient and
steepening low level lapse rates will offer an efficient
environment to mix strong winds down to the surface. Momentum
transfer techniques applied to fcst soundings suggest wind
gusts up to 50 kts possible along and north of I-70 with wind
gusts up to 45 kts across the south Sunday. Have continued the
high wind watch across the northern half of ILN/s FA.

Temperatures to fall Sunday in strong CAA pattern. After early
highs from the mid 40s nw to the lower 50s se - temperatures
will drop to late day readings from the mid 30s northwest to the
lower/mid 40s southeast. Mid level shortwave, low level cyclonic
flow, and steep low level lapse rates will lead to a continued
chance of showers Sunday through most of the day.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Strong winds will be subsiding gradually Sunday night as a large
area of high pressure builds behind deep low pressure. The high will
travel slowly from the Northern Plains to the Great Lakes,
maintaining mainly dry weather through the period. That said, there
will be a low chance of snow and rain Wednesday through Friday when
lift associated with mid level disturbances may squeeze some light
precip from an airmass containing limited moisture.

Temperatures are forecast to sink below normal due to cold advection
on Monday, with highs reaching only the 30s most locations. The
cooler than normal pattern will persist until Friday, when readings
may rise to the near normal mid and upper 40s.

.AVIATION /18Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Ample moisture ahead of a warm front lifting north today will
keep MVFR to IFR ceilings through most of the TAF period. A
vigorous 55-60kt LLJ will push its way into the region, bringing
a LLWS threat from about 00z-07z before the winds mix down to
the surface from about 09z onward, where gusts from 40 to up to
45 kts possible. Greatest risk for 45kts especially at
KCMH/KLCK in the 12-18z timeframe.

Keeping an eye on thinning and minor lifting of clouds across
Kentucky at this time, which may briefly lift ceilings to MVFR
at mainly just KCVG/KLUK late this afternoon before a return to
IFR. Less confidence in the lifting to MVFR, as the window
appears to be narrow. Did bring in a VCTS for KCVG/KLUK in the
01-05z timeframe, but even this window may be too broad. Did not
carry a tempo thunder, as thunderstorms should be relatively
limited in the marginal instability.

Wind gusts to 40-45kts through the period until the deep low
begins to pull north-northeast, ceilings lift to VFR before the
wrap around moisture/CAA lower clouds to settle back in.

OUTLOOK...MVFR conditions are possible Sunday evening.
