At 1233 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 16
miles northwest of Waynesville, or near Smoky Mountains-Big Creek,
moving southeast at 20 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Waynesville, Lake Junaluska, Clyde, Smoky Mountains-Cataloochee,
Smoky Mountains-Big Creek, Smoky Mountains-Balsam Mountain, Cove
Creek, Waterville, Luck and Fines Creek.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph and dime size hail will be possible in these

of thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles southwest of
Burnsville to 6 miles south of Sylva, and moving east at 40 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Downtown Asheville, Sylva, Spruce Pine, Waynesville, Burnsville,
Bryson City, Marshall, East Asheville, Arden and West Asheville.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph, pea size hail and very heavy rainfall rates
up to 2 inches per hour will be possible in these areas.

Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as
