Less active weather is expected today, with only spotty
showers/storms possible throughout the day.

A mid-level shortwave from the Rockies moves across the MO river
valley into far southern Counties in northwest Iowa early this
morning. Ahead of its arrival, low to mid clouds will begin to surge
northward, and seems to stick around through most of the day. Dry
air has already settled in over the area; therefore showers/storms
will be spotty/minimal. Have kept low-end chance of PoPs for areas
south of Highway 20 through late morning.

By the late morning-early afternoon, mid to high clouds move in as
another shortwave moves southward from North Dakota within the
northwest flow aloft. Spotty showers/storms will also be possible,
mainly along and north of Highway 14, but it will have to fight with
dry air already filtering in over the region.

Pattern aloft changes tonight, bringing cooler and less humid
conditions. Upper-level trough shifts into eastern Canada while a
ridge builds in over the Rockies bringing northwest flow, and hence,
drier air into the region. Clouds will be decreasing, leading to a
mostly clear and quiet night. Overnight lows will range in the mid
to upper 50s.

.LONG TERM...(Monday through Saturday)

Ridge strengthens over the Rockies, while at the surface, a high
pressure moves overhead by the beginning of the week. A pleasant
Monday is on tap with plenty of sunshine and temperatures from the
mid to upper 70s. In terms of humidity, it will feel comfortable as
dewpoint values remaining from the upper 50s to low 60s.

Overall, expect a relief from warm temperatures, at least through
the mid-week as 850 hPa temperatures remain in the 9-13 C range.
Daytime temperatures will range from the upper 70s to mid 80s.
Overnight lows in the mid 50s to low 60s. Upper ridge breaks down by
the end of the week. Southerly flow and warmer air return Thursday
night into Friday, along with increasing precipitation chances as
different disturbances embedded in the zonal flow aloft move in.
