.SYNOPSIS...Light showers will be possible primarily over Del
Norte and northern Humboldt Counties tonight. Thereafter, a
warming and drying trend is expected to occur from Friday through
the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...An upper low was positioned offshore from the state
of Washington this afternoon with a trough axis extending south
across the OR and CA coasts. Showers and thunderstorms were
occurring close to the center of the upper low, while dry sunny
skies prevailed across NWRN CA. However, a weak lobe of ascent is
forecast to pivot eastward across the EKA CWA tonight and aid in
low shower chances over Del Norte and northern Humboldt Counties.
In addition, mainly clear skies are expected over Trinity and
northeastern Mendocino Counties, which will support frost
development across wind sheltered valleys.
Friday into the weekend...an upper ridge is forecast to build
across the west coast. Dry subsident conditions associated with
the ridge combined with light to moderate north-northeasterlies
will favor warm conditions across the region...with 80s to near
90 degrees expected across the interior, and 60s to near 70 degree
temperatures developing along the coast. Warm conditions will
likely occur through Monday. One potential caveat will be a minor
upper impulse advancing toward CNTRL CA Sunday evening. That
feature may aid in increased cloud cover as it undercuts the
ridge...but precipitation development is not expected at this
time.
The previously mentioned upper ridge is forecast to deamplify
during early to middle portions of next week. That will likely
support slightly cooler temperatures across the region. However,
precipitating storm systems are forecast to remain north of the
region at this time.

.AVIATION...Mostly VFR conditions are expected through tonight,
though some scattered showers are possible this evening and early
tonight across the northern part of the area. Conditions may
briefly drop to MVFR over the coastal terminals should a shower
move over the airport. Additionally, cloud cover will increase
tonight along the coast north of Cape Mendocino, with conditions
expected to remain VFR to MVFR overnight. Decided to include some
mist at both coastal terminals overnight, with only a minimal
visibility reduction. Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected to
prevail across the interior.

.MARINE...Northerlies will slightly decrease the rest of today
across the waters before increasing yet again late tomorrow
afternoon. Hoisted some Small Craft Advisories for the outer
waters from tomorrow evening through Saturday evening for the
increasing winds and likely building seas. Winds will weaken
through the day on Sunday, with seas slowly coming down through
Monday. Otherwise, a mid-period northwest swell will move through
waters today and will linger across the waters through Tuesday.
