.SYNOPSIS...Dry weather can be expected across northwest
California through next weekend, as high pressure will remain in
control. Though temperatures will heat up around mid-week across
the interior, overall seasonable conditions can be expected.
Persistent onshore flow and will keep coastal clouds in place for
much of the week, with only limited afternoon sunshine for some
spots.
&&
.DISCUSSION...Coastal cloudiness has been a bit more persistent
this afternoon along portions of the immediate coast, thanks to
greater coverage of marine stratus over the nearshore waters.
Expect we will see these clouds expand inland once again tonight,
similar to last night, if not earlier near those areas where
clouds have been more persistent. Inland areas are running just a
few degrees cooler than yesterday's afternoon temperatures, thanks
to a passing upper-level trough. This disturbance is helping to
kick off isolated shower activity over northeast Trinity county,
with a thunderstorm over Siskiyou county. May see another shower
or two into the early evening hours in that area between the
Trinity Alps and Mount Shasta. Think any lightning will probably
stay out of our CWA as the better mid-level moisture and forcing
has shifted a bit off to our northeast and east, but I suppose
there is a non-zero chance of an isolated strike in northeast
Trinity before sunset.
We will have very similar weather conditions persisting across
our area through the first couple days of the week, while some
shortwave troughs will continue to cross the Pacific Northwest and
clip our area. The subsequent west-northwest flow aloft will tend
to bring in drier and more stable air aloft. Some of the high
resolution modeling hints at isolated shower potential once again
in northeast Trinity one of these disturbances passes by Monday
afternoon, but given the drier and more stable airmass expected
otherwise, am not including it in the forecast. That should be the
only minor threat of rain in our area for the next 7 days. The
marine layer may deepen a bit Monday and Tuesday, though a weaker
inversion may still allow for at least some limited afternoon
sunshine for most coastal locations. Coastal temperatures will
hold steady and be very typical of mid-July. Inland areas will be
pretty seasonable as well, though warming back up into the 90s
Wednesday and Thursday in the warmer spots after a slight cool
down early this week. /AAD

.AVIATION...Coastal low clouds have eroded over most land areas save
the immediate coast. However, clouds remain over the waters off the
Redwood coast as well as portions of the Mendocino coast. Low
ceilings linger at KACV and KCEC with some periods of scattered
clouds. Coastal low clouds are expected to expand this evening and
overnight. VFR conditions are expected to continue at KUKI. /SEC

.MARINE...Northerly winds will slowly decrease tonight. The Small
Craft Advisory for the S waters is set to expire at 9 PM. The
lightest wind of the next several days will occur on Monday as the
inland thermal trough (and local pressure gradient) weakens. N winds
will increase once again by Monday night and Tuesday. Advisory-level
conditions will return to the S waters on Tuesday, with more
widespread advisory-level conditions by Wednesday. Additionally, a
couple of small mid to long period swells will continue to propagate
