.SYNOPSIS...Showers and drizzle will gradually dissipate across
the region tonight. Dry and mild conditions will then occur
through the middle of next week. Cooler weather with isolated
showers will become possible once again Wednesday evening into
Friday.

.DISCUSSION...An upper-level shortwave trough was centered over
Trinity County during Saturday afternoon. Showers and isolated
thunderstorms were developing within a midlevel circulation
embedded in the trough...with the heaviest activity occurring
between Weaverville and Redding. These showers/storms are
forecast to dissipate during the evening as the boundary layer
cools and the upper trough exits east. Meanwhile, a shallow marine
layer exists along the Humboldt and Del Norte Coast. The marine
moisture combined with strong low-level northwesterlies are
aiding in saturated orographic ascent favorable for stratus and
patchy drizzle along the windward slopes of the Coast Range and
northern King Range. Northwesterlies are forecast to weaken and
become more northerly by late tonight, which should support
partial stratus dissipation and a cessation in drizzle.
Gusty northwest winds will continue to diminish across NWRN CA
during Sunday, and the onset of a dry period of weather will occur
through midday Wednesday. However, by Wednesday evening, a
midlevel ridge is forecast to shift east of the region, which will
cause deep-layer northerlies to switch to south-southwesterly.
The SWLY flow regime will yield a slightly more favorable
environment for showers and possibly a few thunderstorms over the
interior mountains Wednesday evening into Friday as minor upper
impulses pass east across NRN CA.

.AVIATION...Skies have been clearing over the coastal waters
downstream from SW OR. However, clouds continue to pile up along
the Humboldt County coast and over the interior as low-level
moisture pools against the terrain. Low ceilings will likely
continue over parts of the land areas near and N of Cape Mendocino
overnight. A slightly offshore component to low-level winds may
help to finally erode this cloudiness on Sunday before winds
become onshore again in the afternoon and evening. Some patchy,
generally light fog is possible tonight, but it is not expected to
reduce visibilities below MVFR criteria.
Northerly surface winds are expected to remain gusty through much
of the night along the Redwood Coast, but will gradually decrease
in speed from this evening into Sunday morning. Low-level wind
shear will increase a bit this evening at KCEC, but is expected to
remain below criteria for inclusion in the TAF. /SEC

.MARINE...Gusty northerly winds will continue over the coastal
waters through much of the period. Gale force gusts will continue
over the waters through the evening, with lingering gales over the
outer waters into early Sunday morning. The existing Gale Warning
will likely need to be replace with a Small Craft Advisory, and
this advisory may be required, at least for the outer waters,
through much of the upcoming week. The S outer waters will flirt
with low end gale force gusts into early in the coming week. Short
period seas will subside a bit as the winds back off, but seas of
at least 6 to 8 feet are expected to continue. W to NW swell at
periods from 11 to 13 seconds is forecast to persist through the
