* At 27.0 feet...River Road in Atchison floods and levees on the
Missouri side of the river are overtopped. If the river remains
above 27 feet for several days then U.S. Highway 59 and large
portions of the floodplain in Missouri flood.
* At 25.0 feet...A castings plant in Atchison is affected by flood
waters.

Very potent mid to upper level system will continue its trek away
from the region, but in the meantime stiff surface flow will
continue for the next 6 to 12 hours as the surface cyclone fades
eastward and is replace by rising surface pressure. As the higher
pressure noses into the area winds will gradually become more
northwesterly, which will get cold air advection going for the
overnight hours. This will result in overnight lows dropping into
the lower to middle 30s for Thursday night. Expect winds to remain
gusty through at least 10 pm, with a gradual weakening overnight.
As such the wind advisory will remain in effect until 10 pm for
the entire region. North of I-70 there will remain some lingering
chances for some light rain/snow mixture as the final bits of
moisture and upper support leave the region. Expect little to no
impacts from this lingering precipitation tonight. As for local
rivers and streams, the lack of local precipitation should help
moderate many of the local stream flooding, however some locations
along the Missouri River and its tributaries may still be
influenced by the water running into the upper Missouri River, so
expect many locations to remain well into flood status at least
into the weekend and perhaps next week.
As the main upper system moves out of the area it will usher in a
fairly prolonged quieting of the weather pattern, which should
give us a bit of a break. Northwest flow aloft will aid in keeping
the weather quiet. Temperatures should be near or maybe at times
slightly above normal through the next several days. The next
appreciable chance for rain comes middle part of next week. But at
this point in time there doesn't appear to be any notable impacts
with the precipitation toward the end of the forecast period.
