A High Wind Warning is still in effect through early afternoon
along the wind-prone areas of southeast Wyoming. Otherwise,
conditions today will we mild and relatively calm across the
mountains and High Plains as a quick moving, dirty ridge passes
aloft. Isolated light snow showers are possible across the
northern portions of Converse and Niobrara Counties first thing
this morning, with a temporary drying trend this afternoon as the
ridge axis passes over the region. Temperatures will reach into
the 50s east of the Laramie Range and range between 30 and 40 to
the west.

A strong and deep upper level trough will drop out of the
northwest and move relatively quickly through the region this
Monday and Tuesday. Deep moisture, ample upper level dynamics and
surface forcing will make the passing of this trough a more note-
worthy event for the region. Precipitation will begin ahead of
the front, with showers spreading northwest to southeast as a
mixture of snow and rain, depending on the location and
temperature. Temperatures will range between 30 and 40 degrees
across the region, coming down a bit from Sunday's as mid to
upper level clouds stream in aloft. The cold front will move
through Monday afternoon and pass to the south and east by Monday
night. This front will carry two effects of note. One, as it will
be a strong front, winds will pick up significantly with its
passing and snow showers will increase in intensity, with the
potential for strong snow bands to form. Two, a deep, cold air
mass will follow in it's wake. By Tuesday, expect maximum
temperatures to be about 20 degrees colder than Monday's
- these lower temperatures will be near normal for this time of
year.
While areas along and east of the Laramie Range will generally
start off with rain, or a rain-snow mix on Monday, by Monday
night, all precipitation will change over to snow with 2 to 5
inches of snow accumulation possible across the region.
Additionally, a northerly low-level jet will form by midnight
Monday/TUesday and winds will pick up along and east of the
Laramie Range with gusts up to 45 mph possible. These winds will
continue through Tuesday morning as a surface low forms along the
Wyoming-Colorado border and wrap-around moisture streams in from
the north and east. Areas most prone to the strongest winds due to
this low pressure center will extend from Cheyenne to Alliance
and to the south and east.
Snow and blowing snow will be a concern across the region with low
visibilities causing difficulties in travel both on the Monday
evening commute and the Tuesday morning commute. A Winter Storm
Watch has been issued for most of southeast Wyoming and the
western Nebraska Panhandle for these reasons.
Snow showers taper off Tuesday with clearing in its wake as a
northwesterly flow aloft settles in over the region. While a few

tonight. Deteriorating conditions will develop from west to east
