.SHORT TERM...

An upper level low continues to meander just west of the area, while
a high pressure ridge builds in from the east. Tropical moisture
continues to move onshore through tonight, with convection again
expected along the seabreeze. These should be mainly isolated to
scattered and are expected to end later tonight/early Thursday
morning. Tomorrow appears to be a bit drier to the west, with the
precipitation expected mainly along a trough axis along a line near
Victoria to Alice for tomorrow, with precipitation chances lowering
by early tomorrow morning.

.LONG TERM (Friday through Thursday)...

Numeric models remain in agreement regarding the overall weather
pattern and affects across South Texas this weekend into next week.
Isolated marine streamers may be possible along the coast during the
morning hours and a seabreeze storm or two  might be possible Sunday
however the chances are too low right now to make additions into the
zones or coastal waters forecasts. The extended periods of the
forecast remain dry and hot. As the upper level ridge stalls and
strengthens over South Texas temperatures will steadily warm a
degree or two each day. This combined with persistent elevated
dewpoints will push afternoon heat index values over 105 for most of
the area and possibly close to 110 over far western and southern
sections. Areal coverage of the 110+ heat index values appears
limited to the Brush Country and southern parts of the area so will
likely be handled each day with special weather statement.

.MARINE...

A tight pressure gradient will be enough to create strong enough
winds for a Small Craft Advisory over the Bays and the Nearshore
waters through 03Z, continuing over the coastal waters through
08Z. SCEC conditions will remain over the rest of the forecast
waters through tomorrow night.

Winds and seas slowly decrease starting later Friday through the
rest of the weekend and next week with generally weak to moderate
flow expected. Rain chances are very low this weekend into next week.

...MAXIMUM HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 105 AND 109 DEGREES FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THIS AFTERNOON OVER THE COASTAL BEND...

The combination of warm to hot temperatures and high dew point
temperatures will produce maximum heat index values between 105
and 109 degrees inclusive during the remainder of this afternoon
over the Coastal Bend. Conditions will improve this evening as
temperatures decrease.

Residents with outdoor activities planned are urged to drink
plenty of water, wear light weight and light colored clothing and
take frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets
should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather
when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of
minutes.
