front lifts north into the area. In northwest Ohio, precipitation 
will start out as a mix before transitioning to primarily freezing 
rain. Accumulations of ice in the greater Toledo area could be 
significant and reach a quarter inch.Precipitation will transition
to all rain Tuesday morning. Northern Pennsylvania will see mixed
precipitation develop towards midnight and continue overnight, 
eventually changing to mainly freezing rain. The freezing rain

.Precipitation continues across the area early this morning, with
warm air and the transition to all rain slowly working northward.
Freezing rain will continue to transition to rain through mid
morning from south to north across northwest Ohio, with slippery
road conditions possibly lingering for an hour or two after the
transition to all rain. The highest ice accumulation totals are
expected in northwest Lucas county, with an additional one quarter
inch possible through mid morning. The transition from mixed
precipitation to rain will occur a few hours later across
northwest Pennsylvania.

.SYNOPSIS...
A warm front over the area will weaken today. Low pressure will
track towards the Great Lakes tonight into Tuesday, lifting
another warm front into the area. The low will move northeast
out of the Great Lakes Tuesday night into Wednesday forcing a
cold front through the area. High pressure will build east
across the region Wednesday through Thursday night.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Update...Added another tier of counties south for the winter
weather advisory in northwest Ohio. Event starting 6pm of just
after lasting through midnight until the warmer air gets in.
Also reworked wx grids through the night.

Original discussion...
A weakening warm front remains draped west to east across the
area from near Findlay to Youngstown. This is providing enough
forcing for some light precip across the area early this
morning, with little ice in the cloud layer, leading to more
freezing drizzle than snow. This will continue into the morning
before low level forcing becomes weaker, however areas of fog
will persist near and south of the front through the morning
hours. A period of relatively dry conditions is expected later
this morning through this afternoon across the area surface
ridging hold across the Great Lakes and low/mid level
frontogenesis remains just south of the area. However, this
forcing will work northward into the area later this afternoon
through tonight as low pressure deepens and tracks northeast
towards the area in response to a digging mid level longwave
trough across the central CONUS. This will bring precip into the
area from the south this afternoon through tonight. Have
generally slowed down the arrival of likely/cat pops this
afternoon/evening across the area with the latest models
trending drier during this period. However, deeper moisture will
quickly move into the area near/after 00Z with pops ramping up
to near 100% tonight into Tuesday. Precip type evolution remain
complicated and somewhat lower confidence, however expecting a
generally quick transition from snow to rain for most areas
tonight. The exception remains northwest Ohio and northwest PA.
Stronger northeast flow across northwest Ohio will keep
temperatures cooler through tonight, with a deeper cold layer
allowing for freezing rain/sleet to persist for a longer period
of time. Surface temps will remain colder across the higher
terrain in northwest PA. This combined with a later warming of
temps aloft will lead to a similar prolonged period of snow,
sleet and freezing rain. Have opted for Winter Weather
Advisories for these areas, with light snow/ice accumulations
expected. There may be a need to expand the advisory further
south and east in northwest Ohio depending on the evolution of
surface temperatures this afternoon through the overnight.
Generally expecting a tenth of an inch or less of ice
accumulation tonight into tomorrow for the advisory areas.
Surface temps will rise sharply above freezing through the night
and Tuesday morning from south to north as the low moves into
the Great Lakes lifting a warm front into the area. Expecting a
transition to all rain to be complete by mid morning in the
advisory areas and earlier south. Broad low/mid level forcing
and good support aloft/combined with high moisture values with
PWATS nearing 1 inch across the area will lead to rainfall
amounts from three quarters to an inch and a quarter across the
area. This could lead to renewed flooding along area rivers/low
lying areas, however held off on any flood headlines at this
time. Temps will rise into the mid/upper 40s across much of the
area on Tuesday, with low 40s across northwest Ohio and
northwest PA.

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
Low pressure just north-northwest of Lake Erie Tuesday evening will
usher in cold temperatures on gusty winds. Still looking at the
potential for wind advisory level wind Tuesday night/early Wednesday
with strong west winds. For now will cap the winds at 45 mph.
Cyclonic flow and wrap around moisture will keep precipitation
chances high across all of the area for Tuesday night and across the
east half of the area on Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to
fall into the mid/upper 20s with little recovery on Wednesday.
Precipitation expected to cleanly transition from rain to snow with
light accumulations. Snow chances linger into Wednesday with lake
effect. High pressure resides overhead for Thursday although some
guidance shows a weak shortwave moving through the flow and light
precip with an early developing warm front. Will hold off on
meaningful precip chances until Thursday night. Temperatures will be
moderating between Thursday and Thursday night with rain the primary
precip type and a mix across the far north.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Broadly and generally speaking another panhandle low makes its way
to the Great Lakes for Friday. There remains plenty of differences
in track that have a significant impact on the sensible weather
across our area. With the broad envelope of solutions have pulled
back on temperatures for the weekend. The operational guidance is
some of the warmest solutions. The low/cold front crosses Friday
evening/Friday night. Regardless of track, precip chances remain
categorical with rain changing over to snow. Colder for the
remainder of the weekend with high pressure building in late.

.AVIATION /12Z Monday THROUGH Friday/...
IFR conditions will persist through the period as a warm front
lingers across the area. Some light -FZDZ may impact the
terminals early this morning before diminishing. The warm front
will remain stationary until tonight, then lift north of the
area towards the end of the period. Precipitation will
overspread the area generally after 21Z, with the potential for
mixed precip at the onset before transitioning to all rain at
the end/beyond the TAF period. KFDY and KTOL have the greatest
risk for FZRA after 00Z, otherwise the remaining terminals
should see either precipitation beginning as rain or a quick
transition from snow to rain. Winds will be light and easterly
south of the front, northeasterly north of the front, today.
Winds will increase tonight becoming more southeasterly and
gusty.

OUTLOOK...Non-VFR possible Monday through Tuesday night.

.MARINE...
Another active week on the lake with low pressure passing near the
lake both Tuesday and Friday. Deepening low pressure will move
northeast just west of Lake Erie and across lower Ontario Tuesday
afternoon/Tuesday night and sweep a cold front across Lake Erie.
Have raised a Gale Watch for this time period. This track and
trajectory would be favorable for west-southwest gales in the wake
of the low with the cold air advection. Winds subside Wedneday
evening and high pressure shifts overhead for Thursday. The next low
has a similar track although at this time range, there is larger
differences in timing and position relative to Lake Erie and these
details would have a significant effect on winds.
