.UPDATE...

Minor changes to inherited forecast to slightly increase forecast
highs across the region. Clear skies and warm air advection should
support similar to slightly warmer temps than yesterday. Have
raised forecast highs to at least as high as observed temps
yesterday. Western zones have been bumped upward a couple of
degrees warmer compared to yesterday.

Additionally, have chosen to drop the Wind Advisory for
Livingston and Nye areas, as winds continue to drop, and gradients
continue to slacken. We may still see a gust around 50 mph, but
should not see anything approaching 60 mph.

.SHORT TERM...valid for Tdy and Wed...

Today will be very similar to Monday across the area. Will start
off warmer than yesterday with most locations holding about 10 to
15 degrees warmer than last night, in the teens and 20s. Highs
yesterday pushed into the lower to mid 40s in central zones.
Expect similar high temperatures this afternoon with plenty of
sunshine.

Breezy conditions should extend further east today as well.
Western gap flow locations will remain gusty this morning,
weakening this afternoon as the pressure gradient reverses with
storm system strengthening to the south. Livingston and Nye have
both seen wind gusts of 55+ mph overnight. Kept current wind
advisory in place for these locations through noon today. Could
still see some blowing and drifting snow for areas west of
Columbus through mid- day today, but threat is diminishing as
temperatures have warmed up over the past 24 hours stabilizing the
snowpack.

Storm system begins to bring precipitation to western zones this
evening as energy drops in from the northwest. By Wednesday
morning southern portion of the system shifts northeastward into
Wyoming, pushing better upper dynamics and low level isentropic
lift into our area. Latest ensemble guidance has increased
precipitation a bit over southeast areas, along and south of a
Hardin to Ekalaka line. Temperatures Wednesday look good for all
snow across the area. In addition to more snow, winds are looking
a bit stronger as well over southern areas, providing better
chances for significant blowing/drifting snow. As a result have
issued a Winter Storm Watch from Big Horn county east along with
Fallon and Sheridan counties for the combination of heavy snow and
blowing snow. Further north and west winds will be a bit weaker
and snow accumulations currently reside in the 1 to 3 inch range.
May need a few Winter Weather Advisories adjacent to the watch and
in the Beartooth Foothills if the current forecast holds. This is
a quick moving system and snow will generally be winding down by
sunrise Thursday morning, though winds and blowing snow threat may
continue well into the afternoon. Chambers

High pressure will build in from the west as the upper low
continues to move out of the region on Thursday. Snow will
decrease over southeast Montana with some lingering blowing snow
Thursday morning. Dry conditions then look to prevail through the
rest of the long term as high pressure is progged to remain over
the Northern Rockies. High temperatures look to range from the 30s
to 40s most days, with some places even pushing 50s degrees. Low
temperatures in the teens and 20s look possible most
nights/mornings. Snow melt will continue across the region with

In general, VFR conditions will prevail over the next 24 hours.
Patchy fog over far southeast Montana will bring local reductions
to VLIFR through mid morning. Gusty to strong southwest to west
winds will continue along the western foothills through the
morning, gradually decreasing into the afternoon. Wind gusts in
excess of 40 kts are possible at KLVM. Local reductions due to
blowing snow are possible along the western foothills as well. STP
