FOR SOUTHEASTERN RILEY AND SOUTHWESTERN POTTAWATOMIE COUNTIES...

At 322 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over eastern
Manhattan, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Manhattan and St. George.

SOUTHWESTERN POTTAWATOMIE COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 345 AM CDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty
winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Sunday)
Issued at 211 PM CDT Sat Aug 25 2018

Upper ridge axis is in place this afternoon across eastern KS
while southwest flow aloft will begin to overspread the region
through Sunday. As a result, southerly winds will increase as lee
troughing develops through Sunday. In addition, LLJ will increase
tonight and in combination with a wave now across NM/TX should
help produce scattered elevated convection after midnight.

Any convection should lift north of the area by midday Sunday with
breezy/windy conds by afternoon with a tightening gradient across
the region. Highs should again reach the 90 to 95 range and in
combination with dewpoints in the mid 60s to lower 70s we will see
heat indices around 100 at least for a few hours in the
afternoon.

.LONG TERM...(Sunday night through Saturday)

LLJ and subtle waves may help trigger elevated scattered
convection again Sunday night across the area but will keep chcs
modest given lack of better focus. Monday appears to be another
hot and windy day across the area with highs again in the lower to
mid 90s and heat indices around 100. The longwave trough will
finally move into the Plains on Tuesday so expect a cold front
to sag into the area and provide the focus for more widespread
t-storm activity by Tuesday evening through Tuesday night. That
looks to be the main focus of weather in the extended as a flat
ridge will attempt to build back into the region by the middle of
next week which may help cap the area off with better focus for
precip to shift north of the area mid/late week.

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Sunday night)
Issued at 1150 PM CDT Sat Aug 25 2018

For the 06z TAFs, expect LLWS concerns overnight into Sunday
morning as a 40-45kt LLJ develops over the area. There is the
potential for this LLJ to assist in the development of some
scattered and elevated showers and isolated thunderstorms
overnight, however confidence is low in the coverage of any
isolated thunderstorm development, so only have VCTS in for KMHK. Pressure
gradient will quickly increase Sunday morning, with gusts of
25-30kts expected through the afternoon and into the evening
hours. Despite these gusty winds, expect an even stronger LLJ
(45-55 kts) to develop over the area Sunday night, resulting in
LLWS concerns once again.

miles southeast of Grandview Plaza, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Half inch hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
this storm.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Geary
County.
