.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Tuesday)

Short term forecast will include much of the rest of the near term
hazardous weather concerns for the forecast area.  Considering that
some rivers in east central areas have been having flood concerns,
along with antecedent rain from last evening, will add all
counties in the forecast area to the current flood watch products.

Deep western trough has maintained it's persistence and is ever
slowly beginning to advance east.  This has been causing slightly
eastward influence of divergence aloft helping to produce ascent
along with an embedded mid level shortwave lifting into area from
this morning into the afternoon.  WAA pattern, along with some
clearing over east central areas into northeastern KS has helped to
destabilize the overall environment with up to 1500 J/kg MLCAPE to
develop across areas that have seen some insolation.  As updrafts
developed and moved into a more favorable environment, there was a
period of time where 0-3km shear vectors became more perpendicular
to individual line segments.  Some reports of downdraft winds were
observed to be greater than 30 mph for a period of time as storms
moved through Manhattan.  With high PW air in place and mid 60s
dewpoints ahead of the surface boundary extending from southeastern
Nebraska into central KS, heavy rain has continued out of this line
of storms.  Expect the current squall line to advance east with less
likelihood for potential brief weak tornado potential as bulk shear
vectors are now mostly parallel to this line of storms.  Some
earlier segments did suggest weak but broad low level rotation for a
short period of time.  Thinking for the rest of today then will be
for possibly some line segments to still have the capability to
produce stronger winds, but overall threat into the overnight will
likely continue to be the possible heavy rain threat with a
widespread 2-4 inches of additional rain possible over the forecast
area from now through tomorrow night as the main trough finally
lifts out of the area by early Wednesday morning.

However, Tuesday afternoon could still see a similar set up as today
with a line of storms developing ahead of the cold front within a
weakly capped environment with about 1500 J/kg MLCAPE once again as
a surface low spins across the area providing a bit better situation
for backing surface winds for a period of time.  Deep layer shear of
30-40 kts could be supportive of embedded supercellular structures.
Considering the surface low moves across the area around peak
heating time frame, can't rule out that low level SRH could increase
and thus support a little better set up for a weak tornado or two to
develop in the afternoon tomorrow mostly across far eastern portions
of the area.

The final round of rain then comes ahead of the aforementioned vort
lobe as the upper trough lifts through the area.  Again, expecting
2 to 4 inches of total additional rainfall now through the morning
on Wednesday.

Temperatures for tonight range from around 50 behind the frontal
boundary in northwestern areas to around 70 over east central
zones.

.LONG TERM...(Tuesday night through Monday)

The longer range forecast calls for the cold front to move through
and high pressure to build into the area.  Cooler weather pattern
sets up with possible frost with middle 30s for overnight lows on
Thursday morning and again into the weekend.  Highs generally remain
in the 50s and lows in the upper 30s outside of the nights with a
bit cooler intrusion from the southern extent of the modified
Canadian push of colder air.  Precipitation through the period
remain low confidence with a weak wave within the more zonal
progressive flow pattern early Friday morning and then tropical
moisture lifting into the region by Saturday with a temperature
rebound to the low 60s.

Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms persist for the TAF
period with periodic MVFR/IFR restrictions in the rain, with MVFR
to IFR cigs developing over much of the area early tonight and
lingering through the day on Tuesday. Light winds will become
reestablished from the south by Tuesday morning at 5 to 10 kts.

This hazardous weather outlook is for east central...north
central and northeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and tonight.

This afternoon, a line of storms will continue to advance east
could produce strong to severe gusty winds into early this
evening. Can't rule out a possible weak brief tornado or two
generally before sunset.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to
occur through tomorrow night. Areas of heavy rainfall are
expected across much of north central and central Kansas, causing
an increasing threat of flooding.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms also will be possible during
the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday mainly east of a
Seneca to Manhattan to Junction City line. While there is still
some uncertainty regarding the potential for severe weather, a
risk for damaging wind gusts may accompany the most intense
storms. Will also not be able to rule out the possibility of a
weak brief tornado or two into the afternoon.
