.An area of moisture across the northeastern Gulf will combine 
with an unseasonably cold airmass to create a cold rain across
much of the area this morning. A small part of northern Levy 
County will see temperatures below freezing allowing for a brief 
period of freezing rain. Most of the county will remain above 
freezing however. This system will move away from the area this
afternoon allowing for a reinforcing shot of cold air to move
into the area tonight allowing for low wind chills areawide by
Thursday morning.

Radar detected low topped Atlantic showers trying to reach
the eastern parts of Polk and Highlands County. Otherwise it
was dry with a large thin layer of low clouds trapped under
a strong temperature inversion. There were a few breaks in
the clouds near the Gulf Coast.

.SHORT TERM (Tonight and Wednesday)...
Low pressure will intensify over the northern Bahamas overnight
with moisture wrapping into the northern half of Florida. The
moisture will combine with an unseasonably cold airmass and an
approaching upper level system to cause rain. A small part of
northern Levy County will reach freezing and freezing rain is
expected late tonight and just after day break. Most of the
county will remain above freezing.

The rain ends from west to east Wednesday with skies clearing
by evening. Gusty northwest winds and high temperatures 5 TO
15 degrees below normal will make for a cold day regardless
of any sunshine.

.Long Term (Wednesday Night-Tuesday)...
A strong surface low will be developing over the Atlantic
offshore of the GA coast, with the upper shortwave/trough
sweeping over the state, and across the local area, cold and
dry air will be moving in under high pressure. Lows will
fall below freezing for several hours across the northern
zones, with hard freeze conditions possible across northern
portions of the Nature Coast. Lows will be in the mid to
upper 20s north, to the lower to mid 30s inland, and the mid
30s to lower 40s coastal central and south. Highs Thursday
around 50 north to around 60 south.

High pressure and cold conditions then continue through Saturday,
with a weak reinforcing boundary moving through the area on Friday.
Lows will continue to see freezing temperatures for northern and
inland areas, with hard freezes possible across portions of the
nature coast. Highs will continue in the 50s and 60s. Then for
Sunday and Monday, the high pressure center shifts east and winds
turn to the E/SE with temperatures quickly moderating and moisture
quickly returning. A cold front will then push through the area
Monday night/Tuesday with some showers possible along and ahead of
the front. Highs will reach back into the 70s, and lows increase
into the mid 40s to mid 50s by Sunday night, and in the lower 50s to
lower 60s by Monday night.

.AVIATION...
MVFR ceilings from Tampa to Fort Myers have broken up but areas to
the east will be in it for the duration. Northeast winds will bring
in periods of MVFR ceilings by this afternoon before staying put
overnight. A strong upper level system will move into the eastern
Gulf of Mexico overnight spreading cold showers late in the period.
Conditions improve Wednesday afternoon.

.MARINE...
Winds are expected to drop below advisory levels later this
evening, however, residual wave actions up to 7 feet is
expected to keep advisory conditions in place through early
Wednesday morning over the offshore marine zones beyond 20
miles from shore. Another cold front will cross the eastern
Gulf of Mexico Wednesday morning...ushering in another
period of advisory level winds Wednesday evening. Winds and
seas come down to a more reasonable level Thursday and
beyond.

tonight and Wednesday. Levy County may have a few hours of
humidity below 35% Thursday evening.

...EXCESSIVE COLD IMPACT...
A wind chill advisory remains in effect for a good portion of the
area this morning with brisk winds making it feel quite cold by
Florida standards. Make sure to dress in layers to protect
yourself from the cold. Overnight tonight and into early Wednesday
morning a very brief period of freezing rain may be possible
across northern Levy County.

...RIP CURRENT IMPACT...
High surf will produce rip currents along area beaches.

...MARINE IMPACTS...
Boating conditions will be hazardous to all small craft through
late tonight and mariners are urged to check with the latest
forecasts before finalizing plans.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

...EXCESSIVE COLD IMPACT...
Temperatures will be well below normal for much of the upcoming
week. Overnight lows near or below freezing can be expected across
portions of west central and southwest Florida into the weekend.
Wind chill values make it feel even colder with wind chill values
in the teens and 20s possible.
