issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM to 8 PM
EDT Saturday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Polk.

* WIND...Southeast 6 to 9 mph shifting to the southwest in the 
  afternoon.

* HUMIDITY...25 to 30 percent. 

* ERC...37 to 40.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions 
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of 
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can

Some brief MVFR vsbys from some shallow patchy fog may
impact KLAL and KPGD terminals between 08-11Z Saturday
morning, otherwise VFR will prevail during the next 24
hours. West winds in the 6 to 8 knot range this afternoon
will become light and variable after 00Z tonight, then
become southwest to west at 8 to 10 knots after 16Z on
Saturday as the sea breeze redevelops.

UPDATE...
Dry and stable conditions courtesy of high pressure over
the region will support pleasant dry weather with ample
sunshine and light winds across the entire forecast area the
remainder of today. After a very cool start (temps in the
30s and 40s) temperatures will rebound quickly with highs
topping out in the lower to mid 70s over inland areas during
the afternoon, but upper 60s to around 70 along the coast
due to an afternoon sea breeze. Ongoing forecast is on track
with no morning update required at this time.

MARINE...
Surface high pressure over the area will support tranquil
boating conditions with light winds and slight seas over
the Gulf waters the remainder of today, with an onshore
sea breeze component developing near shore during the
afternoon. Current forecast is in great shape with no
changes expected in the next forecast issuance around 10 AM.

FIRE WEATHER...
Very dry air over the region will result in long durations
(6 to 9 hours) of humidity values below 35 percent over
inland locations during the afternoon. These low humidity
values combined with high ERC values will support Red Flag
conditions over Pinellas, Polk, and inland sections of
Charlotte and Lee counties during the afternoon where Red
Flag warnings will be in effect from 11 AM this morning
until 9 PM tonight. Across the remainder of the region very
dry conditions will prevail however ERC's below critical
levels should preclude red flag conditions.
