Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 904 AM EDT Wed Jul 18 2018 .UPDATE... A mid/upper level trough and an attendant surface front across the southeastern states and northeast Gulf combined with the subtropical ridge axis across the southern peninsula and Florida Straits will continue to support a very moist deep layered southwest wind flow over the forecast area today. The trough/front to the north will provide focus for scattered to numerous showers and storms moving onshore from the Gulf through the day with some locally heavy rainfall possible, especially from the Tampa Bay area north into the Nature Coast where the highest moisture axis (PW's 2+ inches) will reside, while slightly lower rain chances can be expected further to the south and across southwest Florida. It will be a warm and very muggy day with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s to around 90 along the coast, and lower to mid 90s inland with heat indices in the 100 to 105 degree range. Ongoing forecast is on track with no morning update required. && .AVIATION... Scattered shra/tsra moving in from the Gulf within a very moist deep layered southwest wind flow will bring brief MVFR cigs/vsbys to the terminals sites through 00Z tonight with additional brief MVFR conditions possible at the coastal terminals after 08Z Thursday morning as more shra/tsra move onshore from the Gulf. Outside of the convection VFR will prevail during the next 24 hours. Southwest winds around 5 knots this morning will increase to 7 to 10 knots after 15Z with higher gusts near tsra. Southwest winds will diminish to 5 knots or less after 01Z tonight. && .MARINE...
