VFR conditions today with only BKN mid to high-level cloudiness.
Low clouds will begin to move into the region tonight with MVFR
conditions expected to develop at ECP and TLH. Temporary MVFR is
possible at DHN and VLD. Predominantly VFR at ABY. Winds East-
Northeast around 5 kt through the TAF period.

.PREV DISCUSSION [300 AM EST]...

.NEAR TERM [Through Today]...

High pressure will begin to shift north of the area today with a
fairly zonal flow aloft. Mid and high level moisture will increase
from the west with increasing cloudiness. There is some weak lift,
but the low-levels will remain very dry, so any precipitation that
reaches the ground will be confined to our northwest. Mixing to
around 925 hPa will support high temperatures in the mid-60s. With
a weak gradient in place, east-northeast winds will be around 5
mph or less.

.SHORT TERM [Tonight Through Sunday]...

The next threat of heavy rainfall and additional flooding will be
centered on Saturday Night into Sunday, as well as a marginal risk
for severe thunderstorms near the Gulf Coast.

A strong southern stream short wave will initiate low pressure
development along the Texas Coast tonight, tracking east across
the area Saturday Night into Sunday. While this system will be
progressive, it will have anomalously high moisture and strong
jet dynamics. This will promote heavy rainfall, especially to
the north and west of the low track. We continue to expect 1.5
to 3 inches of rainfall from this system with locally higher
amounts, the heaviest of which are expected north and west of
the Big Bend.

With regard to severe weather, there will be ample shear, but
instability will be limited to locals closer to the Gulf Coast.
SPC maintains a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms through
12Z Sunday for the coastal areas from Franklin County westward.
The main threat is a brief, weak tornado.

Temperatures will be above normal during this time frame, mainly
due to the warmer overnight minimums.

.LONG TERM [Sunday Night Through Friday]...

A chance of showers will linger into Monday and considerable
cloudiness will linger into at least Tuesday with the cold pool
aloft. High pressure moves over the region during mid-week,
with fair weather expected on Wednesday. The next area of low
pressure moves into the Mississippi Valley with a chance of
showers returning for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will
be below normal Monday through Wednesday, moderating to near
normal on Thursday and Friday.

.MARINE...

Tranquil boating conditions are expected today. Conditions will
deteriorate tonight with Small Craft Advisory level conditions
expected Saturday and Sunday as low pressure and its associated
fronts move across the waters. There is the potential for gale
force wind gusts centered on Saturday Night as a cold front and
a line of squalls moves across the waters. Winds and seas will
remain elevated near cautionary levels into early next week.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Dispersions at or below 20 are likely across much of the area
today, and may persist into Saturday as well. Aside from low
dispersions, hazardous fire weather conditions are not expected.

.HYDROLOGY...

The next heavy rainfall threat is expected Saturday Night into
Sunday. Widespread rainfall accumulations of 1.5 to 3 inches with
isolated amounts of 4-5 inches are possible. The heaviest rainfall
is expected across the Western Florida Panhandle, Southeast
Alabama, and portions of Southwest Georgia. Flash flooding is a
distinct possibility.

Concerning river flooding, widespread 2 to 3 inches of rainfall
this will cause some rises on the smaller rivers and creeks across
the region but, will have little additional impacts on the the
main stem rivers.

Minor coastal flooding appears possible along the coast in
Apalachee Bay with persistent south to southwest flow ahead of
the next system this weekend.
