.AVIATION...

[Through 06z Monday] MVFR ceilings are expected to develop across
the area through the morning hours. In addition, rain bands from
Alberto will start to spread northward from the late morning
through the afternoon and evening hours with periods of MVFR to
IFR visibility possible in heavier rain.

.PREV DISCUSSION [641 PM EDT]...

.NEAR TERM [Through Tonight]...
Deep layer moisture continues to interact with the sea breeze,
outflow boundaries, and moderate instability to result in high
coverage of scattered showers and thunderstorms across our area this
afternoon. The showers/storms have been organizing into line
segments across parts of the FL Panhandle, so there will be some
potential for gusty winds in this area. However, severe weather is
not anticipated as deep layer shear and DCAPE both remain fairly
weak across our area. Showers/storms will generally end this evening
with the loss of daytime heating and instability, but deep layer
moisture will persist and a few showers and isolated thunderstorms
can't be ruled out tonight near any leftover boundaries. Rain
chances will increase again by the early morning hours as the far
northern fringe of the rain shield associated with Subtropical Storm
Alberto moves northward into our area. Thunderstorms should remain
isolated through this time as instability remains minimal. Overnight
low temperatures are expected to be in the lower 70s across our area.

.SHORT TERM [Sunday Through Monday Night]...
The impacts of Subtropical Storm Alberto will dominate the
weather across the region through early next week. The current
forecast brings the system to near the northern Gulf Coast
sometime on Monday as a strong Tropical Storm. The movement is
likely to be rather erratic through tomorrow as Alberto gradually
transitions from subtropical to fully tropical. Therefore, there
remains quite a bit of uncertainty as to eastward extent of the
impacts. As always, the focus should not be on the exact track of
the center. As of now, Tropical Storm Watches continue from the
Aucilla River westward, with Storm Surge Watches for the entire
coastline.

Expect the initial round of heavy rain to cross the area from
south to north starting Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon and
evening, will likely see a decrease in coverage as a dry slot
wraps around the east side of the circulation. Rain will increase
again, mainly from Tallahassee westward by Monday morning and
continuing into early Tuesday as Alberto approaches the coast.

Heavy rain continues to be the main threat, with 4-8 inches
generally expected along and west of a line from Tallahassee to
Dothan. Locally higher amounts will be possible.

In addition, the threat for sustained tropical storm force winds
is increasing along the immediate coast, especially west of
Apalachicola.

Being in the right-front quadrant, there will be a tornado threat
from Alberto both on Sunday again on Monday as low-level shears
ramps up to as high as 40-45 knots.

.LONG TERM [Tuesday Through Saturday]...
Alberta will exit to the north on Tuesday with coverage of rain
gradually diminishing. However, feed of tropical moisture will
remain in place over the region through much of the week, keeping
good chances of diurnal convection in place.

.MARINE...
Tropical storm conditions are likely over the marine areas
starting Sunday and continuing into Monday. Worst conditions are
expected over the western waters. Very high seas are expected
closer to the track of Alberto, with guidance advertising 20-25
feet over the western legs.

.FIRE WEATHER...
No fire weather concerns will occur through the next several days as
ample moisture associated with Subtropical Storm Alberto persists
across our area.

.HYDROLOGY...
4-8" of widespread rain is currently forecast across the region,
with the highest amounts expected to be west of the Apalachicola
and Chattahoochee rivers. Isolated higher amounts are possible in
these areas as well. East of the river, a dry slot wrapping around
the system will limit the rainfall totals.

Coastal flooding will be a possibility as Alberto moves north into
the Gulf. The initial threat will be along the Apalachee Bay
coast on Sunday afternoon. Current forecasts call for the
potential around 3 ft above MHHW (approx inundation) in these
areas on Sunday. Additional coastal flooding along the Panhandle
and Big Bend coast will be possible on Monday as the system
approaches land.

At this time, advertised rain amounts will be capable of causing
flash flooding, especially if occurring over a short period of
time. Additionally, the greatest potential for river flooding in
this event is across river basins already running above normal,
which include the Flint River, Chattahoochee River, Apalachicola
River, Choctawhatchee River, and Pea River.

The latest rainfall forecasts suggest that minor flooding is
possible on these rivers as early as Monday. Should heavier
rainfall amounts occur, more significant river flooding would be
possible.

With the expected rainfall amounts, a Flash Flood Watch is being
issues for the southwestern half of the CWA.
