The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of 
  Southern Iowa
  Extreme eastern and northeastern Kansas
  Western and northern Missouri
  Extreme southeastern Nebraska

* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning from
  525 PM until 100 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  A few tornadoes likely
  Widespread damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 90
    mph likely
  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...The severe-weather threat in this watch area mainly is
two-fold:
1.  At first, scattered thunderstorms along a nearly stationary
front from southeastern Nebraska across southern Iowa with hail,
wind and perhaps a tornado;
2.  A well-organized complex of storms moving out of northeastern
Kansas -- offering damaging winds potentially reaching hurricane
force, and the risk of a few embedded tornadoes.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 85 statute miles
north and south of a line from 25 miles west northwest of
Leavenworth KS to 15 miles northeast of Kirksville MO. For a
