DISCUSSION...
Patchy morning mainly across East and Northeast Texas and
Northwest Louisiana will end shortly after daybreak with
clouds increasing as moisture will be returning. Low level
moisture feeding into the Southern Plains around the back side of
surface high pressure over the Eastern U.S. along with middle and
high level moisture in the Southwest flow aloft between a closed
upper low over California and an upper ridge of high pressure in
the Central Gulf of Mexico. The western end of a nearly stationary
front along the Texas Coast and Northern Gulf of Mexico will be
returning back into the region during the day and overnight which
will combine with upper disturbances riding over the abundant
supply of moisture. The result will be showers and thunderstorms
with locally heavy and widespread rainfall with amounts of 1-3
inches possible. For late tonight and early on Wednesday the rain
will be much lighter with the front North of the forecast area,
However in its wake, the upper level flow will be continue to be
Southwest with a moist and unstable airmass. The upper level
closed low out to the West shifts across the Desert Southwest and
the Baja Region. Disturbances riding in the flow aloft will
combine with the Pacific moisture and low level Gulf moisture
providing another round of convection Wednesday. The upper low
over the Southwest sections of the country will become an open
wave Wednesday night as its shifts into the Central Plains and
into West Texas helping drive a cold front across the central
sections of the country and the Four State Region Wednesday night
and early Thursday. Along with brief heavy rainfall, showers and
thunderstorms out ahead of the boundary and along its length may
produce strong to possibly severe storms until passage of the
upper trough axis and cold front boundary. The expected amounts of
one to two more inches will be enough to cause rapid water runoff
due to recent rainfall resulting in a threat of additional flash
flooding and flooding. A flash flood watch continues from noon
today through noon Thursday. By Thursday afternoon and early
evening the rainfall should end with high pressure on the surface
and aloft providing a cool and dry end to the work week that will
last into the middle of the weekend. The upper ridge axis will
shift east of the forecast area by Saturday with the surface high
pressure covering the Eastern sections of the country. Moisture
will be returning around the back side of the surface high while
the flow aloft returns to Southwest as a large upper low moves
across the Pacific Northwest and it broad trough moves into the
Western States west of the Rockies. This pattern will return rain
for the weekend and keep us in a wet pattern for the start of the
work week and into through mid week. /06/

Showers and thunderstorms will be increasing across the area
with locally heavy rainfall possible at times with rainfall
amounts of one to two inches with higher amounts possible. A warm
front will be lifting Northeast across the region. These rainfall
amounts in a short period of time will cause rapid water runoff
resulting in flash flooding and flooding of low lying and poor
drainage areas and send rivers, creeks and bayous over their
banks.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday...

Periods of additional heavy rainfall will continue in wake of
a warm front in a very moisture rich atmosphere and along and
ahead of an upper level trough of low pressure and associated
cold front that will march across the area late Wednesday
and Wednesday night. Additional rainfall amounts of one to two
inches will be possible. there will be a threat of severe storms
Wednesday evening and overnight with the approach of the cold
front. Dry conditions will prevail into the weekend until the next
prolonged period of possible wetting rains with periods of heavy
rainfall.
