.SYNOPSIS...Clouds will increase tonight and Monday, and a
weakening front will bring some rain and locally windy weather
late Monday and Monday night. A series of fronts will bring wet
weather at times to the area for the remainder of the week.

.SHORT TERM...A sharp, amplified upper ridge axis over the Idaho
Panhandle will continue to move east on Monday. As a result,
southerly flow aloft will increase on Monday over Western
Washington. High clouds will continue to increase. Southerly flow
will open the door to a negatively tilted cold front on Monday
evening. Rain will spread onto the coast early in the evening,
then into the interior and I-5 corridor late in the evening.
Strong easterly gradients will precede the front, leading to
breezy and windy conditions in east-wind prone locales such as the
foothill communities of eastern King and Snohomish Counties.
Some showers will linger on Tuesday under the negatively tilted,
northeast-moving upper trough axis. A shortwave ridge axis will
pass Western Washington on Tuesday night, making this a mostly dry
12-hour period.
A rather large and broad upper trough over the eastern Pacific
will push a cold front into Western Washington on Wed. Strong
southwest flow aloft will develop and help support the heaviest
precip on the week. Southeast gradients preceding the front will
lead to breezy conditions. For example, the latest EC MOS guidance
and MEX MOS guidance for Whidbey Island show peak winds of 28
knots and 24 knots respectively late Wednesday. Haner
.LONG TERM...From Previous Discussion: An upper trough will be
over the area Thursday and Friday for showery weather. The next in
a series of frontal systems will bring another round of steadier
rain next weekend. Models continue to show differences in the
timing of the front but are starting to hone in on a later
Saturday or Saturday night arrival.
Also perhaps of some interest is snow levels will gradually lower
through the week - down below the lowest Passes Thursday and
Friday and perhaps low enough for snow on the highest hills in
the lowlands (1000-1500 feet) next weekend. Schneider

.AVIATION...Moderate southerly flow aloft will develop tonight as
an upper level ridge moves inland. A front will approach Monday and
lift across the area Monday evening. At the surface, moderate
easterly gradients tonight will become more southeasterly Monday as
the front approaches.
Everywhere had been good VFR this afternoon, but now fog is starting
to form. Fog is probably more likely tonight than stratus. There
will be high clouds later tonight which should inhibit fog somewhat.
It should all be gone by 18Z as clouds from an approaching system
increase.
KSEA...VFR conditions expected, though there will be patchy fog in
the area and there is chance that IFR conditions could briefly reach
the terminal, probably 10Z-16Z. Winds turn southeast and rise to 5
to 10 kt by Monday afternoon with high clouds across the area. CHB

.MARINE...Easterly flow is starting to ease but small craft advisory
level winds are still occuring on the coast. A front will approach
the coast Monday, turning the winds southeasterly and keeping them
at advisory strength.
A gale watch remains in effect for Monday night as the front moves
through the coastal waters. Another system on Wednesday could also
bring gales. Westerly swells of 20 to 25 ft are possible by
