.SYNOPSIS...A frontal system will bring rain at times and cooler
temperatures today with a few lingering showers into Monday. High
pressure should bring dry conditions on Tuesday. A series of
weather systems will bring rain at times for the remainder of the
week.
&&
.SHORT TERM...A front will move through the area today with rain
at times. Westerly flow aloft will shadow the metro area a bit
however. Rain will change to showers by this evening as the front
moves inland. It will be breezy in spots this evening with a burst
of onshore flow behind the front. Showers will taper over the
lowlands tonight. A Puget Sound Convergence Zone is likely behind
the front tonight.
The Cascades from Snohomish county south above 2000 feet should
pick up enough new snow by Monday morning to warrant a winter
weather advisory. Snow levels will drop below 1000 feet later
tonight for a threat of lowland snow. Showers will be spotty by
then and snow accumulations are generally not expected although a
slushy inch or so cannot be entierly ruled out on some of the
higher hills away from the water.
Showers will continue to taper on Monday, becoming mostly confined
to the mountains. A Puget Sound Convergence Zone could reform and
linger into Monday night however. Tuesday is looking mostly dry

.LONG TERM...The first in a series of frontal systems will bring
rain Tuesday night and Wednesday. Additional weather systems will
move through the area roughly every 24-36 hours Thursday through
Saturday. Models differ on timing and strength of individual
features but the general idea is for a wet stretch of days.

.AVIATION...An upper level trough moving southeastward along the
British Columbia coast will move into western Washington this
evening. Moderate to strong westerly flow aloft will continue today
before turning northwesterly and weakening tonight as the upper
level trough shifts into eastern Washington. The air mass is moist
and stable this morning and will become somewhat unstable this
afternoon as colder air aloft destabilizes the atmosphere. A Puget
Sound convergence zone is expected to form this afternoon and shift
southward through the evening hours. MVFR ceilings can be expected
throughout the region with areas of light rain turning to showers
tonight.
KSEA...MVFR ceilings developing early this morning and persisting
into the afternoon hours. Westerly flow aloft may rain shadow Sea-
Tac initially, but a convergence zone is expected to form this
afternoon and shift southward this evening. Convergence zone shower
activity could reach the terminal around 00Z-03Z or so. Surface
winds S-SW 12 to 18 knots with some gusts into the 20s this
afternoon. May see a brief wind shift to northwesterly around 02Z-
03Z if the convergence zone remains intact this evening. 27

.MARINE...Strong onshore or westerly flow will develop behind a
cold front that will move across the area today. The flow will
weaken on Monday. Expect light southerly flow to prevail on
Tuesday. Another frontal system will begin impacting the region
