...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM EDT
FOR EAST CENTRAL WASHINGTON AND SOUTHWESTERN PLEASANTS COUNTIES...

At 600 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Belmont, or
near St. Marys, moving south at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
St. Marys, Belmont, Newport, Schultz and Willow Island. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to

SOUTHWESTERN PLEASANTS COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 630 PM EDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However heavy rain
is still possible with this thunderstorm.

.SYNOPSIS...
A closed upper low begrudgingly shifts east Tuesday. Mid level
ridging occurs for mid week, followed by another trough and weak
cold front by late in the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 225 PM Monday...

Convection firing along a north/south line at this hour just
west of the I-79 corridor. Slow moving showers and storm are
justifying the marginal risk of excessive from WPC for today,
but so far, the coverage is manageable. Peak heating still to
come in the next few hours, so do expect an overall increase in
the activity, waning with sunset.

Will not eliminate the POPs going into the overnight, and
expanded the area around the entire CWA given the closed upper
low still influencing the region despite the eastward drift.
Should have enough elevated CAPE for any small impulse to kick
up the isolated shower or storm during this time frame.

The closed low continues to move east on Tuesday, with lingering
POPs over the northern tier of counties, but the available mid
level moisture that is the primary source for this activity will
be exiting into Pennsylvania.

Temperatures on the slow uptick for Tuesday with recovering
heights and brief ridging aloft.

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 403 PM Monday...

Exiting upper level low takes our rain chances to the east with
it Tuesday night leaving weak high pressure in place through the
day on Wednesday. Next inbound shortwave approaches late in the
day and this may spawn an isolated shower/storm across our
southeast Ohio/northeast Kentucky counties. Otherwise, rain
chances increase area-wide on Thursday as the shortwave digs
into the Ohio Valley.

Temperatures will reach the upper 80s for most lowland
locations and dewpoints will rebound to near 70 pushing the heat
index into the low to mid 90s both afternoons.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 403 PM Monday...

While models differ on timing, a series of upper level
shortwaves will pass across the region through the period. Hard
to find a period without a threat for a shower or storm,
however the best chance for rain appears to be on Friday and
again on Saturday. Atmospheric moisture levels will remain high
so, as has been the theme this summer, storms will carry with
them a heavy rainfall and localized flash flood threat.

.AVIATION /20Z MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 125 PM Monday...

Scattered convection will continue through the main
daylight/daytime heating hours. Using VCTS/CB with TEMPO thunder
at the most likely terminals to be affected directly by storms.
The upper level low pressure system will slowly drift to the
east, but will still leave the potential for isolated convection
through the night, but will not represent this at this time. Fog
in the river valleys will form where the sky cover clears enough
tonight, which may be difficult at the CKB location.

Expect lesser coverage of convection forming towards the back
end of the TAF on Tuesday.

storms.

Summersville, Sutton, Gassaway, Addison (Webster Springs),
Camden-On-gauley, Birch River, Rock Cave, Holly River State,
Harrison, Cowen, Flatwoods, Alexander, Eden, Muddlety, Helvetia,
Pickens, Cleveland, Boggs, Little Birch and Hacker Valley.

This includes Interstate 79 between mile markers 47 and 75.

At 400 PM EDT, an area of strong thunderstorm were located from near
Sissonville to  Elkview. The storms were moving to the southeast at
around 5 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Charleston, Sissonville, Pinch, Coal Fork and Elkview.

THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS...
 Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 12.
