* Forecast...The River will continue rising to near 40.3 feet by this morning. 
  The river will fall below flood stage tonight.
* At stages near 40.0 feet...Low lying areas surrounding Point Pleasant and 
  vicinity are flooded due to backwater. Also, the ampitheater lower pier is 
  flooded and half way up the steps.
* A crest near 40.3 feet compares to a previous crest of 42.1 feet on March 16 
  2015.

Cold front sweeps east this morning and early afternoon. High
pressure brings dry weather this afternoon through Tuesday. Next
low pressure system Wednesday through Thursday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 925 AM Sunday...

NBM, HRRR and NAMNest able to resolve thin line of showers with
cold front crossing through early this afternoon. Allowed
slight chance for midday and early afternoon thunder with this.
A bias corrected short term consensus was used to fine tune
temperatures and dew points today into tonight.

The big news is we more a less dodged a big bullet with the
rain, with flooding only in a few areas and gauged streams, and
the crest on the Ohio only going into minor flooding at most
gauges, pending the late morning update.

The flood watch was shortened by 3 hours, to a 1 PM expiration.

As of 145 AM Sunday...

Latest radar mosaic shows a large area of moderate to occasionally
heavy showers was currently pushing east into the region. These
showers were associated with a cold front which was approaching
from the west.

The cold front and associated precipitation should push across
the region this morning with the precipitation coming to an end
as the front pushes east.

Models continue to generally show the highest rainfall amounts
over southeastern Ohio. Will continue the flood watch as the
ground is saturated and streams and rivers continue to run high
across the watch area.

High pressure will build in tonight with dry weather and light
northwest winds.

Blend of model guidance is very close for previous forecast for
highs today and lows tonight.  So only some minor tweaks made.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 310 AM Sunday...

Some light rain showers my skirt our SW VA counties Monday
morning as a wave develops along the front SE of the area.
Otherwise, early next week will provide a brief respite from the
very wet weather of late. Sunshine and continued mild weather
will be a welcome sign indeed.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 330 AM Sunday...

The lull in the active weather will be short lived as another
wet system arrives for mid to late week. Rainfall amounts with
this system will have to be monitored for a renewed flooding
threat. Much colder air will move in behind this system with
mountain snow showers expected Friday and Friday night.

.AVIATION /14Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 645 AM Sunday...

A cold front will quickly cross the area through the late
morning hours. A few MVFR showers will be common along the
front with a wind shift to the west to southwest.

Conditions should then improve in the wake of the front. Expect
VFR conditions will spread east to the Ohio River by 15Z,
across much of the lowlands by 18Z and then the entire area by
20Z.

At 755 AM EST, Scattered showers will gradually move out of the area
this morning.  Runoff from previous rain and these showers will
continue to runoff into streams, creeks and rivers.

The Shade River near Chester is running just below the 17 foot
estimated flood stage and may creep up over the estimated flood
stage later this morning.

The Ohio River at Point Pleasant is also running just below the 40
foot flood stage.  At 7 AM this morning the stage was 39.9 feet and
with the additional runoff may just go over flood stage later this
morning.

Locations impacted include...
Point Pleasant, Gallipolis, Pomeroy, Racine, Coolville, Rutland,
Forked Run State Park, Ravenswood, New Haven, Mason, Tuppers Plains,
Middleport, Chester, Syracuse, Hartford City, Henderson, Cheshire,
Adamsville, Portland and Lakin.

This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 143
and 162.

A Flood Watch remains in effect. Runoff from heavy downpours could
cause rises in water. If rising water is observed, move to higher
ground. Do not drive into areas covered by water.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski, Wilkesville, Creola and Radcliffe.

Minor flooding and high water continues along Raccoon Creek.
Motorists should be especially cautious for water over roads. Some
