The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
West central Huerfano County in southeastern Colorado...
Northeastern Costilla County in south central Colorado...
* Until 1030 PM MDT.
* At 926 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain occured earlier
this evening. Up to one and a half inches of rain has fallen.
Flash flooding is already occurring.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Spring Creek Burn Scar north of HWY 160.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar is resulting in debris flow
moving through the Pass Creek Drainage and possibly other areas. The
debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose
materials.
This includes the following streams and drainages...North Abeyta
Creek...Yellowstone Creek...South Fork...South Oak Creek...Oak
Creek...Pass Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
