...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 PM MDT FOR
CENTRAL HUERFANO AND NORTHEASTERN COSTILLA COUNTIES...

At 419 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain over the northeast portion of the across the warned area. 
Spring Fire burn scar.  Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow 
moving through and near the Spring Fire burn scar. The debris flow 
can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of central 
Huerfano and northeastern Costilla Counties, in and near the Spring 
Fire burn scar.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

At 458 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated that most rain had 
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. ended 
over the Spring Fire burn scar.  However, heavy rain earlier is 
still expected to cause flooding and debris flow problems, over and 
near the burn scar.
