...Major Winter Storm to Strike Central and Eastern Idaho...

.Moist air has been pushed into southwest Idaho by a strong storm
that was still centered in Oregon. This will spread snow, some of
it heavy, into the mountains of central and eastern Idaho tonight.
The warm part of the storm arrives first, and will like produce
mostly rain for the eastern Magic Valley and lower Snake River
plain. But the cold portion of the storm will arrive during the
day Friday and bring snow levels lower, producing at least some
light snow at that point. High temperatures for most of central
and eastern Idaho will occur early Friday morning, with lower
temperatures during the afternoon, in an unusual switch from what
would normally be expected.

Main focus is on winter storm approaching beginning Thursday and
continuing through Friday night. Continued winter storm watch in
central mountains and added winter storm watch for high elevations
in upper snake highlands and caribou and south central highlands
and Idaho Wasatch Thursday night through Friday evening. Expect
quiet weather today with continued cold conditions. Winter storm
will affect all areas beginning Thursday and continuing through
Friday. Have no highlights for Eastern Magic Valley or Snake River
Plain yet. Think snow amounts will be affected by downslope
initially Thursday which should limit them initially but will
snow everywhere on Friday.

.LONG TERM...Saturday through next Tuesday. The low pressure
disturbance over Northern California and Nevada will continue
eastward over Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming on Sunday. Scattered showers
are expected both days and will favor the mountain areas with time
as the upper level flow becomes more westerly Sunday and Sunday
night. Isolated showers of snow linger around Island Park Monday and
Tuesday with a weak high pressure ridge transitioning across this
area. Daily high temperatures continue around 10 degrees below
normal through Monday, then trend towards seasonal normals Tuesday.

.AVIATION...Low stratus continues at KIDA and KDIJ this morning,
slowly moving to the east in satellite imagery. Estimate ceilings
become scattered at KIDA about 18Z, but may not break up at KDIJ.
The NAM12 brings a  minor embedded wave into the KSUN area about 21z
with possibly some VCSH near the terminal 22-02Z. This is gradually
