The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Coastal 
Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 2:00 AM Tuesday. The 
Coastal Flood Warning has been cancelled.

* LOCATIONS...Coastal areas of the New Jersey counties of 
  Atlantic and Cape May, and Sussex County in Delaware.

* TIMING...High tide on the New Jersey and Delaware oceanfront 
  occurs between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM this evening. High tide on 
  the back bays and along Delaware Bay occurs later than the high 
  tide on the oceanfront.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of saltwater inundation 
  above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near 
  shorelines and tidal waterways. In Sussex County Delaware, 
  roadway flooding is possible in Fenwick Island, Dewey Beach, 
  Bethany Beach, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and other locations along 
  the ocean, the bay, and tidal tributaries. Minor roadway 
  flooding is possible in Atlantic City, Absecon, Ventnor, and 
  southeastern Burlington County. In Cape May County, minor 
  roadway flooding is possible in Wildwood, Cape May, Avalon, and 
  other locations along the shore and the Delaware Bay shoreline.

* RIP CURRENT RISK...High.

* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...Large breaking waves will be dangerous to 
  anyone who enters the surf. Very strong rip currents will be 
  life threatening to anyone who enters the surf.

* WAVES...Wave heights on the ocean waters off the coast are 
  forecast to be around 10 to 12 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in 
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and 
dangerous swimming conditions. Do not enter the surf.

A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is 
expected. Minor Tidal flooding often results in some road 
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal 
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The 
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting 
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to

THIS MORNING...

* LOCATIONS...The tidal Delaware River and its tributaries in 
  Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and in the New Jersey counties of 
  Burlington and Mercer.

* TIMING...High tide occurs between 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM Tuesday.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...One to two feet of saltwater 
  inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas 
  near shorelines and tidal waterways. At this level, additional 
  roadways near the river and its tidal tributaries begin to 
  flood. Lives may be at risk when people put themselves in 
  harm's way. Some damage to vulnerable structures may begin to 
  occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This Coastal Flood Warning means that moderate tidal flooding is
occurring or imminent. Be prepared for rising water levels and
take appropriate action to protect life and property. Follow the
recommendations of local emergency management officials.

Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be
deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in
danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly
repairs.

.SYNOPSIS...
The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Gordon will continue to lift north
and weaken across the eastern Great Lake region. A warm front will
continue pushing northward across the area through tonight and into
Tuesday. This boundary will stall and linger in the region through
mid-week. High pressure begins building in from the north and
east by the middle of the week. Impacts from Hurricane Florence are
possible by the end of the week and into the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/...
Warm air advection has been a bit slower to take effect across
much of our area. Consequently, we haven't seen much in the way
of shower development across our region. Expect coverage of
convection to become even more limited as we go into the evening
with loss of diurnal heating what instability there is will
become even more limited. Thus, have trended PoPs down
especially through the evening hours. With the window for heavy
rain diminishing, have cancelled the flood watch. However,
flooding concerns remain with tidal flooding (see discussion
below), but fresh water flooding threat should be limited.

The cold front will continue to advance eastward overnight, but
should still stay west of the area through the overnight hours.

The continued warm air advection and persistent cloud cover
should limit radiational cooling, keeping temperatures in the
60s and 70s across the area.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM TUESDAY/...
The cold front is expected to move into our area during the day
tomorrow. A band of rain is expected to develop ahead of the
front, and could stay over our area through the day as the front
will slow and eventually stall.

Thanks to continued moisture advection, dew points will once
again be in the 70s ahead of this front. That, combined with
temperatures in the 80s will mean across the coastal plains we
could see heat index values once again in the 90s.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
By late Tuesday, the shortwave trough associated with the remnants of
TC Gordon is expected to be ejecting northeastward away from New
England. As this feature continues moving away from the region,
upper ridging begins building across much of the eastern US. The
evolution of this synoptic pattern will play a critical role in the
ultimate track of Hurricane Florence as it approaches the East
Coast, potentially making landfall in the Carolinas, as well as any
potential impacts Florence may have across our area.

At the beginning of the period, the remnants of the warm front
pushing northward today will be stalled across our area from
northeast to southwest as a somewhat diffuse baroclinic zone. This
boundary feature will remain a focusing mechanism for scattered
showers and thunderstorms through the middle of the week as some
vort maxes and shortwaves pass across the region. Abundant tropical
moisture will remain in place under southeasterly flow with PWATs be
on the order of 2" or more, so any convection that does develop will
likely produce heavy rainfall. The boundary is expected to dissipate
as weak high pressure begins building in across the northeastern US
by mid-week. With the persistent southeasterly flow in place through
much of the week, temperatures will remain a few degrees above
normal with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows around 70 through
the end of the week. Dewpoints will range from the upper 60s to low
70s so the air will still feel muggy and humid.

Hurricane Florence is forecast to be making its approach to the East
Coast by Wednesday into Thursday. The current NHC forecast brings
Florence ashore in the Carolinas by late Thursday as a major
hurricane. There still remains quite a bit of uncertainty as to if
and exactly where and when it will make landfall, but these details
will need to become more clear to being determining impacts to our
area, if any at all. Nevertheless, potential for Tropical Storm
Conditions will be mentioned in the forecast Thursday night and
Friday for areas in the lower half of our Delmarva counties per
NHC's forecast track and wind probabilities. As of the current
forecast, it appears the most probable threat to our CWA, if any,
would be the potential for heavy, flooding rainfall after Florence
moves ashore and stalls somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic or
southeastern US. Again, this is conditional to the exact location of
Florence's track after landfall, which remains uncertain at this
time. Regardless of the exact track or potential impacts to the
sensible weather in our area, Florence will cause large swells to
reach our marine zones resulting in increased wave action, high
surf, and dangerous rip currents as well as the potential for more
coastal flooding by late Wednesday. Continue to monitor the NHC's
website for the latest forecast and information on Hurricane
Florence.

.AVIATION /20Z MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Tonight...We should see ceilings and visibilities gradually
improve overnight, but the exact timing of this improvement is
uncertain. Easterly winds are expected to diminish, and the
wind direction should become variable shifting to southeasterly
and eventually southerly overnight.

Tomorrow...Once ceilings improve to VFR, likely by 18Z, if not
earlier, expect predominantly VFR conditions. There is a chance
for showers and thunderstorms, primarily along the Delaware
Valley (KILG, KPHL, KPNE, KTTN) and eastward. With any showers
and storms, temporary reductions to MVFR are possible. However,
the chance of this directly affecting any one TAF site is too
low to include in the TAFs at this time.

Outlook...
Wednesday...Generally VFR, but MVFR conditions are possible in
scattered showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be out of the
northeast/east around 5-10 knots.

Thursday through Saturday...Generally VFR, but MVFR conditions
are possible in scattered showers and thunderstorms. Winds will
be out of the northeast/east around 5-15 knots. Impacts from
Hurricane Florence are possible during this time.

.MARINE...
Winds have diminished on all the waters. Thus, the gale warning
has been cancelled. A Small craft advisory will continue on the
coastal waters for the next several days. Winds will continue to
diminish overnight, but seas are expected to stay elevated.

On the Delaware Bay...winds and waves should stay below SCA
criteria tonight and tomorrow.

Outlook...
Wednesday through Saturday...seas should remain elevated on the
coastal waters through most if not all of this period. There is
a small chance (less than 20 percent) for tropical storm force
winds primarily for the Delaware Coastal waters.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Coastal flooding is expected for at least one more high tide
cycle. Although the tides are slowly decreasing, consecutive
high tide cycles of flooding, and rainfall are further
exacerbating coastal flooding issues. Water will have little
chance to drain out of back bays in between the high tide
cycles, so flooding issues could be exacerbated with subsequent
high tide cycles. This is also known as tidal piling.

.EQUIPMENT...
The KDOX radar remains inoperable until further notice. Water
damage to the radar transmitter and product generator is still
being assessed. Due to the unknown extent of the damage, there
is no estimated time for the radar's return to service.

The ASOS (automated surface observing system) at KILG (Wilmington,
DE) took a lightning strike Friday evening. Some of the data
appears to have now returned, however full restoration is not
expected until sometime on Monday.
