* TIMING... Late tonight through Wednesday morning.

* TEMPERATURES...Wednesday morning lows 20 to 27 degrees across
  northern Oklahoma, and 27 to 32 degrees across much of  
  southern Oklahoma and portions of north Texas.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions may damage sensitive 
  vegetation. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the 
  cold.

Generally MVFR ceilings will persist today with some clearing in
the northwest. Overnight, clouds will lower into the IFR category
at the southern and eastern TAF sites. South winds will increase
this afternoon and remain gusty through the night.

UPDATE...
Added patchy fog to southeast counties. Removed mention of patchy
freezing drizzle.

DISCUSSION...
Visibilities have dropped to around 3 miles at several sites in
south central Oklahoma. With moisture advection and a deep
moisture layer mixing down, expect this fog to persist through the
day.

Models are struggling with todays high temperature, giving
solutions with a spread of more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit at
places. Persistent stratus will it hard to warm up much this
afternoon. Continuing with the current forecast that trends a bit
more toward the NAM and HRRR with cooler temperatures.

AVIATION...
02/12Z TAFs. MVFR conditions expected to dominate forecast at most
locations through the entire forecast period. Patchy drizzle or
light showers will be possible near KOKC/KOUN early in forecast
but confidence on impacts too low to mention. VFR conditions will
be possible around KWWR and KCSM for several hours after 18Z as
lower level flow veers and drier air works in from the Panhandles.
This will likely be short lived as moisture shifts back west this
evening ahead of a cold front. Strong southerly winds will
develop through the day, with strongest winds across far western
Oklahoma. Strong cold front will pass over KWWR toward end of
forecast period bringing strong north winds and clearing skies.

DISCUSSION...
Freeze warning was expanded southward to include areas that are
near and below freezing this morning. Also extended the warning in
time by an hour for slower recovery expected. It appears likely
that there will be even a more widespread freeze on Wednesday
morning so additional freeze warnings will be needed. With the
current warning in effect, we will not be issuing a warning or
watch for Wednesday morning, to avoid confusion. A watch/warning
will be issued later today or tonight. Freezing drizzle has been
slow to develop this morning, but there are indications on radar
and stratus spreading northeast from southwest/central Texas is
evident of moisture advection and weak isentropic lift. Still
think that we could see some patchy freezing drizzle early this
morning, mainly over central parts of Oklahoma. However, impacts
are very uncertain and with temperatures hovering right at
freezing, no widespread problems are expected. If the mid-20 air
that we see over western Oklahoma was over the OKC metro, it would
be a different story as far as potential impacts.

Mentioned above, we will have another cold surge on Tuesday which
will allow freezing temperatures to be an impact Tuesday night and
Wednesday morning. In addition, winds are expected to be quite
strong behind Tuesday's front. Wind advisory level winds appear
likely across at least the northern and western portions of
Oklahoma for the first half of Tuesday. Yet another strong front
appears possible Friday into Saturday, which could yield freezing
or near freezing conditions over portions of the region.

Outside of drizzle and perhaps light showers today into tonight,
scattered storms will be possible tomorrow morning as the strong
front passes through southeast parts of Oklahoma. Any strong or
severe storms should stay well east of our area. Storms return to
forecast late Thursday and Friday associated with the next frontal
boundary and associated northwest flow wave. With this pattern,
severe weather will be unlikely and rainfall amounts on the light
side.

Elevated fire weather conditions will be possible late this
afternoon across northwest Oklahoma as drier and warmer air
combines with the gusty south winds. The window for these elevated
conditions will be brief. The strong northerly winds on Tuesday
will keep fire weather conditions elevated to critical over western
Oklahoma into western north Texas.

Patchy fog is expected to persist through today over parts of
south central Oklahoma.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday...

.Thunderstorms...
There is chance for thunderstorms on Tuesday, primarily across
southeastern Oklahoma. A few strong thunderstorms will be
possible.

Another chance for thunderstorms returns Thursday night into
Friday.

.Fire Weather...
Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions will be
possible on Tuesday. Elevated conditions will be possible across
much of the area with near critical conditions most likely across
western Oklahoma and north Texas.

.Strong Winds...
Strong north to northwesterly winds with gusts 40 to 50 mph will
be possible on Tuesday.

.Cold Temperatures...
A widespread freeze is likely across much of Oklahoma Wednesday
morning. Freezing temperatures will be possible across northern
Oklahoma Saturday morning as well.
