An active weather pattern is expected through the week. A wet and
mild weather system will bring significant precipitation Tuesday
night into Wednesday and again next weekend with a mix of rain and
snow across the lower elevations and snow in the mountains.
Travel impacts are expected at times, especially over the mountain
passes.

.DISCUSSION...
As of 10 AM, scattered light radar returns were being detected
around Priest Lake and Bonners Ferry. More scattered rain and
snow shower activity is expected to develop by early this
afternoon under a passing cold upper trough. Lowland
precipitation amounts should be relatively light, and with
temperatures in the mid 30s to low 40s snow accumulations are not
expected. There will likely be enough westerly upslope into the
Idaho Panhandle mountains this afternoon and early this evening
for a couple inches of accumulation for the high elevations around
Kellogg, Clark Fork, and Sandpoint.
The morning model runs continue to forecast a moisture rich storm
system for Tuesday into Wednesday. Heavy mountain snow
accumulations will occur over a two day period. Lowland snow
amounts will be a challenge with rising snow levels. At this time,
it looks like communities along and north of Highway 2 will have a
shot of snow accumulations on Tue/Tue evening before a change to
rain. Communities closer to the Canadian border like Colville,
Metaline Falls, Sandpoint, and Bonners Ferry may experience snow
into Wednesday with accumulations of 4 to 6 inches. /GKoch

18Z TAFS: Scattered rain and snow showers will be possible in the
19z-22z time frame for the KGEG, KSFF, KCOE, and KPUW airports
under a passing cold upper trough. Amounts will be light and with
temperatures above freezing, runway accumulations are not expected
today. Low stratus or fog will likely develop overnight with a
favorable SW flow into Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. Look for snow to

North Central Washington and Northeast Washington. .DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT Hazardous weather is not expected at this time. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY A Pacific storm system beginning on Tuesday in the Cascades and spreading through out the mountains of eastern Washington and north Idaho Tuesday night and Wednesday will bring heavy accumulations of snow to the mountains and at least moderate to possibly heavy accumulations to the valleys. Another wet storm system this weekend has the potential to bring another round of heavy snow to the mountains.
