WV/IR imagery this morning revealing a deep longwave trof situated
over the western CONUS with a strong tropical moisture feed lifting
up into the southern/central Plains. 00z PWS plots indicated values
were ranging anywhere from 150-175% of normal for this time of
the year. At the surface a frontal boundary extended from the
southern Great Lakes region to the TX panhandle.
Main concern is combination of ample moisture on hand coupled with
forcing for ascent will promote threat for excessive rainfall the
next couple days.
For today precip activity is progged to expand out of KS and
increase in areal coverage within warm air advection regime. Models
in agreement surface boundary will lift slightly to the north Monday
night and stall over the CWA parallel to flow aloft. With this PWS
are progged to increase to around 1.75" overnight. A prolonged
period of elevated convective precip will ensue then Monday/Monday
night along axis of stout differential divergence. Strengthening
low level jet will likely lead to precip intensification during
the overnight hours. Mid layer ageostrophic lift will carry over
into Tuesday allowing for additional precip accumulation with
overall totals by days end reaching 3-6". At this point will defer
to day shift to determine if going Flood Watch over portions of
southeast NE will need to be expanded to include more counties.

Medium range models advertise precip coming to a close then by
Wednesday morning as upper trof axis picks up speed and approaches
from the west. A Pacific NW shortwave trof will bring the next
chance for precip to the region then Thursday night through Friday
evening.
Cold front sweeping in will bring much cooler air mass to the region
with max temps Wednesday and Thursday generally in the upper 40s/
lower 50s, and in the mid 40s Friday.
