.SYNOPSIS...An upper level low will move into the region tonight
bringing a slight chance of showers over the interior portion of
the region Wednesday morning. A slight warming and drying trend
is then expected late in the week as a weak ridge builds over the
eastern Pacific. Cooling will then resume as an upper low
approaches the California coast late this weekend.

.DISCUSSION...as of 9:00 PM PDT Tuesday...Upper level low over
northern Nevada and another upper low off the central California
coast is keeping a deep marine layer and strong onshore flow.
Temperatures were cool again today as highs in the Bay Area
interior were only in the low to mid 70s. Low clouds mixed out
this afternoon but can be seen on satellite image reforming. Low
clouds should reform tonight with bases at or above 2500 feet.
The upper low off central California will move inland overnight.
This may trigger a few showers over the inland valleys and
mountains Wednesday morning. But any precip that does fall will be
less then a few-hundredths of an inch. Better mixing of the clouds
is expected Wednesday after the low moves east of the area but
the cool airmass will keep temperatures about the same as today.
Inland temperatures will warm up about 5 degrees each day
Thursday and Friday as a weak upper ridge moves over the area.
The marine layer is expected to re-establish itself keeping the
coastal areas cooler. This ridge will be transitory and move off
to the east by Sunday as an upper trough approaches the Pacific
Northwest. Medium range models show this trough digging into
California so it will be with us into early next week. Thus look
for inland temperatures to cool down once again.

.AVIATION...As of 10:44 PM PDT Tuesday...For 06z TAFs. Mainly sct
cloud decks for Bay Area terminals overnight that should turn bkn
by 12z time frame as upper low approaches. Current thinking is
that upper low will have enough cool air aloft to allow for clouds
to mix out by 17-18z with most shower activity not impacting
terminals.
Vicinity of KSFO...Morning cigs forecast to mix out by 17-18z
with cool upper trough expected to keep inversion layer weak and
mixed out.
SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to KSFO.
Monterey Bay Terminals...Cigs may reform by 12z then start mixing
out 17-18z Weds.
