.SYNOPSIS...Expect a few lingering showers through this afternoon
as moist air and a weak warm front approach from the west. Dry
weather will return for the end of the week and continue through
the weekend. Rain chances return early next week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...as of 1:25 PM PST Wednesday...Lingering showers
will continue this afternoon as a weak warm front approaches from
the west. This will ultimately result in minimal additional
accumulations. Otherwise, cloudy skies will remain through most of
the day/evening as winds continue to decrease. Temperatures
around the region are currently in the low to mid 50s. Little
warming this afternoon is expected as we continue to sit under
widespread cloud cover. Some locations around San Jose and
southward may reach the low 60s over the next few hours.

High pressure will continue to build over the Eastern Pacific
through the end of the week, aside from a brief interruption
tomorrow by a weak impulse that will pass to our north. Most of
the associated precipitation will be confined to Northern
California and parts of the Northern Coastal Waters. As the upper
ridge strengthens into the weekend, expect drying conditions and
warmer temperatures along with patchy night and morning coastal
fog in the North and East Bay valleys.

The upper level ridge will weaken and shift inland into Monday as
a trough approaches from the Gulf of Alaska. This will bring
chances of rain to most of the region on Tuesday. Another system
is then set to arrive to the area by Thursday. This will continue
to be monitored over the coming days.

.AVIATION...as of 4:15 PM PST Wednesday...Low-level moisture up
to 700 mb keeping MVFR ceilings over most of the area. Cigs may
rise later this afternoon then drop again in the evening
but overall conditions will be predominantly MVFR through
Thursday morning. Models indicate drier air from the midlevels
working its way down tonight and Thursday compressing the
moisture layer. This will allow for reduced vsbys late tonight
down to 3-5 miles in the SFO Bay Area and down to 1/4 mile near
STS.

Vicinity of KSFO...MVFR cigs through Thursday morning. Vsbys may
drop to 3-5 miles between 06Z and 16Z.

SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to KSFO.

Monterey Bay Terminals...MVFR ceilings through Thursday morning.
Vsbys lowering to 2-4 miles in some places after 06Z.

.MARINE...as of 4:15 PM PST Wednesday...Light to moderate
northwest winds will prevail over the coastal waters overnight and
on Thursday. West to northwest swells will generally be between 4
and 9 ft through Friday before a larger swell arrives sometime
over the the weekend.
