.SYNOPSIS...Mostly dry and continued cooler than normal weather
through the middle of the week. A weak disturbance will pass over
the region Tuesday night resulting in a small chance for
scattered showers. High pressure will produce dry and warmer
conditions during the second half of the week.

.DISCUSSION...as of 2:24 AM PDT Monday...Overnight observations
indicate gusty conditions over the coastal waters with buoys
reporting gusts over 30 kts. Winds are much weaker overland, but
still breezy along the immediate coast. Satellite imagery also
reveals scattered clouds over the coastal waters and locally
inland.
The main weather maker today will be a shortwave trough/vort max
currently position off the Pac NW Coast. This particular feature
is forecast to drop southward off the NorCal Coast this afternoon
reinforcing cold air aloft. That being said, cooling aloft and
daytime heating will result in a fair amount of cu around the
region. Chances are small at this point, but the WRF/HRRR actually
develop showers across Lake County and northern Napa County. Will
leave this out for now, but something to watch as the day
progresses. Given the cooling and expected cloud cover temps today
will be in the 60s. Higher peaks will be even cooler and in the
50s (highest peaks may struggle to even hit 50). Any chance for
showers will diminish as the sunset this evening.
The longwave trough remains over the region on Tuesday and Tuesday
night, but this time another shortwave trough/vort max will pass
directly overhead. As mentioned on previous discussions, hi-res
models continue to produce scattered showers Tuesday and Tuesday
night. Therefore, decided to add some scattered showers Tuesday
and Tuesday night. QPF will be minimal with a few hundredths to a
tenth near a developed cell.
On the backside of the shortwave trough/vort max from Tuesday
night high pressure begins to build over the region Wednesday. The
building high pressure will continue through early Friday. As a
result, a gradual warming trend will develop on Wednesday and will
peak Friday/Saturday - 70s/80s across the interior with 60s/70s
at the coast. Slight cooling is then expected on Sunday/Monday as
high pressure weakens and an upper trough swings into NorCal. At
this point models keep all precip well north of the Bay Area, but
at a minimum drop temperatures.

.AVIATION...As of 10:30 PM PDT Sunday...Lower clouds along the
coastal hills in strong northwest flow. Bases range from 1700
ft through 4000 ft. Models indicate the inversion layer reforming
at a lower level which should produce MVFR cigs. But strong winds
will keep the cigs areal in coverage. Expecting MVFR conditions
over most Bay Area terminals except STS but one or more of the
terminals could remain out of the cigs.
Vicinity of KSFO...MVFR through 18Z. West winds gusting 18-20 kt to
30 kt through 09Z.
SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to KSFO.
Monterey Bay Terminals...Cigs over the coastal hills expected to
spread over MRY and SNS. MVFR through 17Z.

.MARINE...as of 10:24 PM PDT Sunday...High pressure over the
eastern Pacific will combine with a deepening low over the Great
Basin bringing increasing northwest winds. Winds could reach gale
force over the northern and outer waters Monday afternoon and
