visibilities mostly in low stratus, light rain and fog across the
region through this afternoon, clearing from west to east this
evening and overnight. Winds will be north 8 to 12 kts with

NEAR TERM /Now Through Wednesday night/...Main concern through
tonight will be a light freeze late tonight through early Thu
morning generally along and west of a line stretching from Mobile
to Greenville in AL which includes all inland areas of southeast
MS. These temps will be cold enough to damage or kill sensitive
vegetation resulting in a freeze warning for late tonight through
early Thu morning.
Aloft a deep upper low centered over ne TX this morning will lift
northeast to the mid MS river valley by early Thu morning. East of
the upper system a persistent 100 to 120kt upper jet axis still
located west of the forecast area this morning will slowly shift
eastward eventually moving east of the forecast area by early Thu
morning. With this pattern expect enough forcing or lift to continue
on the east side or entrance region of the upper jet helping to
maintain widespread light to occasionaly moderate rain over much of
the forecast area this morning, then gradually shifting eastward
this afternoon and evening. As a result expect clearing skies
generally from west to east with a light north flow near the surface
for most inland areas beginning after midnight tonight.
Highs today will range from the lower to middle 40s for most inland
areas and the middle 40s to lower 50s along the coast. Lows tonight
will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s generally along and west
of the I-65 corridor, the lower to middle 30s to the east and closer
to the coast, and the upper 30s to near 40 along the immediate
coast. 32/EE
SHORT TERM /Thursday Through Friday night/...Rainfall associated
with the departing weather system will be east of the forecast
area by the beginning of the short temp period, then expect a dry
and cool forecast through the remainder of the period as surface
high pressure drifts east across the forecast area.Very little in
the way of clouds, and relatively light winds through the period
as well. This will possibly lead to widespread areas of frost
across much of the area Thursday night when temperatures are once
again expected to drop into the lower 30s for most of the
interior. As we fine tune Thursday night min temperatures,
additional Freeze Watches/Warnings may be required, depending on
where the freezing temperatures occur. Otherwise primarily a
temperature forecast through the period, with highs on Thursday
ranging from the mid to upper 40s inland areas to the lower 50s
toward the coast. On Friday, highs will be in the mid to upper 50s
area wide. Nighttime low temperatures also slowly moderate from
the low to mid 30s Thursday night to the mid 30s to lower 40s

LONG TERM /Saturday Through Tuesday/...Surface high pressure
drifts east and weakens Saturday through late Sunday, with a
weakening trough approaching from the west early next week. This
trough will bring a slight increase in cloudiness, but not much
in the way of rainfall by Monday into Tuesday. Moderating
temperature trend expected, with daytime highs generally in the
60s Saturday through Tuesday. Overnight low temperatures generally
in the low to mid 40s interior locations to upper 40s and lower
50s coastal locations. 12/DS
MARINE...Periods of light to moderate rain will continue over the
marine area through this afternoon then slowly shift east as high
pressure builds to the west. A moderate to strong northerly wind
flow will continue over the marine area through tonight then
diminish slowly during the day on Thursday as the broad surface
ridge to the west shifts east. A light northerly wind flow is
expected late in the week and over the weekend as high pressure
continues to settle over the region. As a result a Small Craft
Advisory will continue over the open Gulf waters of AL and NWFL
from 0 to 60 nm out through 9 am Thu morning. 32/EE
