...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 PM EDT
FOR NORTHEASTERN BREVARD COUNTY...

At 1206 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 14 miles northeast
of Port Canaveral, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northeastern Brevard County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

CANCELLED...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However gusty winds are
still possible with this thunderstorm.

.DISCUSSION...
Areas of light rain from earlier decaying convection has largely
diminished across the I-4 corridor this morning. Mid level S/W
trough across north Florida into the NE Gulf of Mexico will
combine with a moist airmass across the area (PW values 1.8-1.9")
to produce high coverage of showers and storms into the afternoon,
with rain chances up to 60-70 percent. Northern areas are already
seeing some breaks in the cloud cover this morning. This will
allow for plenty of daytime heating and instability for numerous
showers and storms to develop along and ahead of the west coast
sea breeze. pushing eastward across the area and toward the coast
and offshore through late day.

Slight cooling of temperatures aloft and lingering dry air in the
mid levels will keep a threat for strong to isolated severe
storms across the area. Main threats will continue to be strong
to locally damaging wind gusts, small hail and frequent lightning
strikes from this activity. Greater cloud cover across northern
areas should keep highs limited to the mid 80s today, while
farther south temperatures should be able to reach the upper 80s
to around 90 degrees, especially along the coast.

.AVIATION...
Localized IFR/MVFR cigs in stratus will continue into late morning
before cigs gradually lift with daytime heating. Also, a few
showers and isolated storms may move across northern terminals
into late morning. However, best potential for tempo IFR/MVFR
conditions due to convection will be into the afternoon as
numerous showers and storms develop and push eastward toward the
east coast of Florida and offshore through late day/early evening.
Isolated gusts to 35-45 knots possible in any stronger storms.

.MARINE...Main marine concern today will continue to be offshore
moving showers and storms into the afternoon producing strong
gusty winds. Otherwise, offshore flow will be at or below 10 knots
with seas around 1-2 feet.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
Increasing moisture ahead of a stalled frontal boundary, coupled
with westerly winds will produce numerous showers and lightning
storms across east central Florida today. From early
afternoon onward, expect storm coverage to increase farther south
and inland, along and ahead of the west coast sea breeze. There is
potential for the east coast sea breeze to develop along the
immediate coast, with a late afternoon collision possible.

Today's storms will move east at 20 to 25 MPH, and will be capable
of producing strong win gusts in excess of 40 MPH, small hail,
and torrential rainfall of 1 to 3 inches in a 60 to 90 minute
period. Move indoors to safety if skies look threatening, or you
hear thunder.

.MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT...
Storms will have the potential to produce wind gusts of 35 knots
or greater, small hail and frequent cloud to water lightning today
over inland lakes, and especially near the coast, and over the
intracoastal and near shore Atlantic waters. Boaters should be on
the lookout for storms approaching rapidly from the west, and
move to safe harbor in advance of deteriorating weather.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
Numerous showers and lightning storms are expected each afternoon
and early evening through this weekend and into early next week.
the main storm threats will be cloud to ground lightning strikes,
torrential rainfall, and brief gusty winds.

if needed.
