.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will remain over the region today. A weak cold front
will move through the area Friday afternoon. The front will
dissipate over the weekend as high pressure rebuilds off the Mid
Atlantic coast through early next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 620 PM Thu...No sig changes needed to previous forecast
for update. Benign conditions with the high pres in place and
only some sct diurnal strato cu, which will dissipate with loss
of heating tonight. Mostly clear and very warm overnight lows in
the mid/upper 60s interior to low/mid 70s beaches expected. A
light W to SW breeze will preclude fog development overnight.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY/...
As of 3 PM Thu...Weak cool front will drop south into E NC
through the afternoon hours tomorrow. Some weak sfc based
forcing in tandem with afternoon sea/sound breeze development
will lead to iso/sct showers and perhaps a few storms for the
sound and coastal counties. Covg will be quite limited as large
scale subsidence continues aloft and any convection will wane by
early eve Fri with the loss of heating. Hot and humid once
again with highs near 90 south and west to mid 80s OBX zones.
Heat indices may approach 100 for a time during the afternoon
hours.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 240 AM Thurs...The spell of recent dry weather is likely
to end in this period, however widespread rain is not expected.
A weak front entering the region will help spark scattered
showers and thunderstorms Friday and Saturday. Then, moist
easterly flow will take hold into next week, keeping the chances
up for scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Saturday...Scattered storms are again possible, mostly over the
southern half of the area, with temperatures a few degrees
cooler...still well above average however. During the overnight
hours both days, scattered showers will shift to the near shore
waters and immediate coast, and low temps will range from the
mid 60s to the low 70s.
Sunday through Wednesday...High pressure will rebuild off the
Mid-Atlantic coast Sunday, and in turn winds will shift to the
NE, and eventually E through Wednesday. Slight convergence
along the remnant frontal boundary looks to continue for some
time, and with available moisture flowing in off the Atlantic,
scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible during this
period. However, with an upper level ridge centered squarely
over NC, large scale subsidence will inhibit rain showers from
building past the lower levels and/or persisting for more than a
short period of time. A diurnal cycle in convection seems
apparent, with showers forming across the inland areas in the
afternoons, and then shifting to the coast and near shore waters
overnight. Will keep slight chance PoPs in the pattern
described for the period. Temperatures will be mostly in the
low to mid 80s for highs, and the upper 60s to low 70s for
overnight lows.

over the area. Can't completely rule out some patchy light fog

Long Term /Friday night through Tuesday/...
As of 300 AM Thurs...Mostly VFR conditions are expected through
the long term. There will be a threat for scattered showers and
thunderstorms each day, however it shouldn't cause any long
term issues at area airfields.

As of 620 PM Thu...Latest obs show S/SW winds 5-15 kt with seas
3-5 ft. Buoy 41025 has dropped to 5 ft, so will likely be able
to cancel SCA around 7pm for the central waters. The long period
swell will diminish a bit tonight with 3 to 5 ft central/srn
waters and mainly 2 to 4 feet nrn waters. A weak cold front will
push through the waters Friday into Friday evening, moving
north to south. Winds will shift, becoming NE 10-15 kt with seas
cont at 3-5 ft.
Long Term /Friday night through Tuesday/...
As of 300 AM Thurs...Another batch of increased swell is
possible Saturday through Monday, with seas increasing to 4-7 ft
across the waters. Winds will be northerly 5-10 kts Friday, and
then NE 10-15 kts Saturday. Winds then become easterly on
Sunday and Monday around 10 kts or less.
