This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southeast New
Mexico, southwest Texas, and western Texas.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through this evening for
Southeast New Mexico, the western Permian Basin, the Trans Pecos, and
Culberson and Jeff Davis counties. Large hail, damaging winds, and
frequent lightning are the main threats.

Additional strong to severe storms are possible across much of the
area through tonight, and could be accompanied by large hail,
damaging winds, and frequent lightning. Heavy rain could also lead to
flash flooding, especially across the Permian Basin and Lea county,
where a Flash Flood Watch is in effect.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

Severe thunderstorms will continue to be possible Sunday and Monday
with large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning the main
threats. However, an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
Heavy rainfall could also lead to flash flooding both days. A Flash
Flood Watch is in effect through early Sunday evening for the
Permian Basin and Lea county. Please stay tuned to the latest
statements, watches and advisories to see which locations will be
most susceptible to these threats.

CENTRAL LOVING COUNTIES UNTIL 1130 PM CDT/1030 PM MDT/...

At 1053 PM CDT/953 PM MDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong
thunderstorm in open country 20 miles east of Red Bluff Reservoir,
or 20 miles north of Mentone, moving northeast at 20 mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
this storm.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of south central Lea
and north central Loving Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

At 1018 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms
between Whites City and Malaga. These storms were moving to the
northeast at 20  mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Loving, Malaga, Whites City and Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.
