.DISCUSSION...
SW flow aloft will prevail across the area thru Sunday,
strengtheningeach successive day. Assocd surface pressure falls
will maintain a se and s surface wind today/Saturday across the
PB, respectively. Meanwhile very dry air across NM/AZ will move
farther east eventually setting up a dryline Sat PM. Dry air is
expected to mix to just east of the NM/TX line and will be INVOF
FST/Big Bend by late Sat PM. Pronounced thermal ridging and sw
winds w of the dryline will result in a very noticeable warm-up on
Sat for SE NM/Trans Pecos. An upper low moving thru the Great
Basin Sunday PM and 30-40kt mixed layer winds will shove the
dryline much farther east on Sunday and widespread high temps
around +15 degrees are expected. By mid Sunday morning high winds
will develop in the GDP Mtns per mtn wave signature on NAM12.
Across the plains the MSLP gradient is loose, however
aforementioned mixed layer winds will result in windy/very windy
conditions across Pb/SE NM, respectively, during peak heating.
Downslope winds and 85h temps from 18C-20C should easily push high
temps into the 80-82 range across the PB, even warmer across the
lower elevations of the Trans Pecos. A dry cold front, emphasis on
dry, will follow Mon with surface ridge maintaining a presence
through Tue PM and keeping high temps in U60s- 70s. Very dry air
will favor cool mornings most all of next week.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Fire wx concerns will increase this weekend, Sat across the GDP
Mtns and SE NM and then widespread Sunday. Even though it will be
dry in the afternoons the RH recovery each morning through Sunday
AM will be good to excellent, except GDP Mtns and west Eddy Co is
likely to be poor-fair Sunday AM. The general pattern is fire-
effective with the windward side of a well defined low-level
thermal ridge across SE NM/NW-W PB/Trans Pecos, very few clouds
and steep lapse rates. The combination of ERC-G in 50th-70th
percentile combined with RFTI of 5-7 does support critical
conditions and we will opt to issue a fire weather watch for
Sunday for SE NM/NW-W PB/GDP Mtns/Davis Mtns/Marfa PLateau. Fire
weather watches may be needed farther east? RHs will be especially
low Sunday PM, some areas around 5-7% and with RH that low it will
only take wind of 22-24 mph to get a solid RFTI 6-7 across the PB.
