.SYNOPSIS...18/636 PM.
A weakening cold front will bring some showers and mountain snow
showers with gusty winds and cooler temperatures to the area
tonight and Thursday. High pressure will then build in for dry
and warmer conditions Friday, with above normal temperatures
expected over the weekend into early next week. There will also be
coastal low clouds and fog during the night and morning hours by
later in the weekend.

***UPDATE***
Today was as nice as it was advertised with sunny skies and max
temps right at seasonal norms. Skies were still clear over
Southern CA but satellite and radar showed clouds and showers
associated with a weak cold front off of the Monterey county
coast. 18Z NAM still singing the same tune with near certain light
rain for the Central Coast during the predawn hours Thursday.
Rain chc diminishes rapidly south of Pt Conception as the front
collapses later Thursday morning. SBA South coast on the edge of
the realistic rain chances so possibly a hundredth or two there.
Really think VTA and LA counties will only see a sprinkle or two
given the lack of south flow and dynamics with this system.
The forecast for strong winds remains and will issue an updated
forecast after the 00Z NAM arrives to include a multitude of wind
advisories.
***From Previous Discussion***
As with the last couple systems the main impact will be the winds
and cooler temps. Expecting another round of widespread advisory
level west to northwest winds by early afternoon. Winds will veer
to north overnight and weaken in most areas except srn SB County
and I5 corridor areas where it will remain windy into Friday
morning. Temps will cool 5-10 degrees most areas.
Gradients remain weakly onshore Friday so while temps will warm up
the best warming will be inland while coastal areas will still be
dealing with a sea breeze.
Friday night models are now showing a decent eddy spinning up so
it looks likely we'll see a solid marine layer developing with
clouds moving up from the south and reaching as far north as
southern SB County Saturday morning. With the ridge building in
aloft clouds will be relatively low based and there could be some
dense fog in places. Valleys and other inland areas will continue
to warm up with highs well into the 80s.
.LONG TERM (SUN-WED)...18/207 PM.
Warm temps inland expected to continue at least through early
next week with weak ridging aloft. After that the models show an
upper low developing but with huge differences in location. The
GFS has a closed circulation developing off southern OR Tue
morning and drifting south along the coast through Thursday while
the ECMWF cuts the low off about 1000 miles west of Pt Conception
Tuesday and remaining well offshore through the week. Basically
the difference between continued above normal temps and cooler
with a chance of showers. For now will trend cooler but leave any
precip chances out of the forecast.

KBUR...Good confidence in TAF. There is a 20% chance of MVFR cigs
